Rad Power Bikes, an American company that manufactures electric bicycles, has just launched its newest electric tricycle. Called RadTrike, the vehicle comes with the claim that it will be one of the most affordable options in its market, at least in the international market.
The electric tricycle can be folded to facilitate storage and costs US$ 2,499, which is equivalent to about R$ 13,000 at the current exchange rate. Although it may seem like a lot, the reality is that it is almost half the price of other similar electric tricycles.
According to the website Electrek, the price of a top-of-the-line electric tricycle from other manufacturers can reach over US$ 8,000, exceeding 40,000 reais.

The Goal of the Electric Tricycle RadTrike is to Make Commuting More Efficient, Pleasant, and Accessible to Everyone
In the words of Mike Radenbaugh, founder and president of Rad Power Bikes, the goal of the electric tricycle RadTrike is to make commuting more efficient, pleasant, and accessible for everyone. Sarah Bruce Courtney, senior product manager of the company, states that the RadTrike was designed with comfort and stability in mind. It is made for those people who simply haven’t ridden a bike in a while, who have balance issues, or mobility problems.
The model also adapts to the speed the operator desires, providing five different levels of pedal assistance and throttle control. For example, the first level moves at a pace similar to walking.
The additional weight results in a maximum speed of only 22 kilometers per hour, slightly lower than other electric tricycles. The combination of the wider design and the smaller 18-inch wheel size serves another function, producing a lower center of gravity and increasing the vehicle’s stability.
In addition to its main purpose, the electric tricycle from Rad Power Bikes has a range of other potential applications, including delivery work. Buyers will have the option to purchase two storage baskets, one to be installed at the front and another to be installed at the back of the product. Learn more in the video:
The Electric Tricycle has a 48V Battery that Provides a Potential Range of Up to 56 Kilometers
The 750-watt electric motor can be found mounted in the front wheel of the RadTrike electric tricycle. In addition, there is a parking brake installed so that it does not roll down the hill if left parked on a slope.
The 48V and 10.4 Ah battery can be removed and placed in a storage compartment located in the chassis of the electric tricycle. The vehicle has a potential range of up to 56 kilometers.
Rad Power Bikes claims that the RadTrike is suitable for “smoother paths” due to the absence of a suspension system in the vehicle. It is not an off-road electric tricycle for any bumpy stretch; instead, it is optimized for urban riding.
The load capacity is 188 kilograms, which is sufficient to accommodate an adult along with their luggage. The RadTrike electric tricycle will begin delivery to customers starting January 2023 in the United States. So far, there is no evidence suggesting the product’s launch in other countries.
