According to the notice, the line Curriculum, Teaching, and Difference includes 12 places, while State, Work-Education, and Social Movements has 16 opportunities.
Meanwhile, Teacher Training, Languages, and Subjectivity has 10 places.
Other areas included are Inclusion, Ethics, and Interculturality, with seven places, Educational Policies and Institutions, with eight, and History, Subjects, and Educational Processes, which has two places for the next class.
The definition of the line guides both the analysis of the pre-project and the composition of the evaluation committees.
In addition to the thematic division, the notice provides for the distribution of places by competition modality.
Out of the total, 38 places are allocated for general competition.
The other 17 are part of affirmative action policies, following UFRJ’s internal regulations and current legislation, with reserves for black, brown, indigenous candidates, people with disabilities, transgender, transsexual, and quilombola individuals, according to the criteria described in the document.
Stages of the Selection Process for the Master’s at UFRJ
Admission to the Master’s in Education at UFRJ occurs through four stages, all eliminatory.
The first consists of the analysis of the summary of the pre-project submitted at the time of registration.
In this phase, the committee evaluates the adherence of the proposal to the chosen research line and the program’s objectives.
Next, the approved candidates take a written exam, without consultation, consisting of two essay questions.
One of them addresses general topics in the education field.
The other directly relates to the research line indicated by the candidate.
The notice states that the assessment will be conducted in person, at the Praia Vermelha campus in Rio de Janeiro, with a maximum duration of four hours.
The third stage is the defense, conducted by a examining board, based on the pre-project and the submitted resume.
As provided, the defense usually takes place in person.
The notice allows for remote participation for candidates who prove residency more than 250 kilometers from the municipality of Rio de Janeiro, as long as the established conditions are met.
Finally, the fourth stage involves specific procedures for candidates competing for the reserved places based on affirmative action.
In these cases, there is a heteroidentification process for self-declared black and brown candidates.
A validation committee for the self-declaration is also provided for individuals with disabilities.
Both procedures are eliminatory.
Calendar for the Master’s in Education at UFRJ
The official calendar released by UFRJ states that the approval of registrations is scheduled for February 25, after the end of the application period.
The notice also reserves specific dates for the presentation and analysis of appeals at each stage of the selection process.
The result of the analysis of the summary of the pre-project is expected to be published in March.
The written exam is scheduled for April.
The defenses are expected to take place between May and early June.
Meanwhile, the procedures for heteroidentification and validation of self-declarations are listed in the schedule for June, with dates to be defined or disclosed later by the organizing committee.
