Possible Agreement with the European Union Could Expand Exports: Brazil Has Already Sent 117 Thousand Tons of Beef; See the Most Exported Cuts.

Between January and November 2025, Brazil solidified its position in the European market by exporting 117 thousand tons of beef to the European Union.

The sales generated US$ 955 million, according to data from the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries (Abiec), highlighting the relevance of the higher value beef cuts.

Although representing a smaller share of the total volume shipped by the country, the European bloc has significant financial weight.

This is because the European Union concentrates the demand for noble cuts, which increases the average revenue of Brazilian exports.

European Union Plays a Strategic Role in Brazilian Exports

According to Abiec, the European Union accounts for 3.7% of the total volume exported by Brazil in 2025.

However, when the criterion is revenue, the bloc represents 5.9% of the revenue of the beef sector.

This performance positions the European market as the sixth main destination in volume and the fourth largest in financial value for Brazilian beef. Therefore, even with a smaller quantitative share, the economic impact is significant.

Beef Cuts Lead Sales to the European Market

The beef cuts sent to the European Union follow a strict quality standard.

The bloc primarily imports noble cuts from the hindquarters, boneless and with high sanitary standards.

Among the main products exported by Brazil are:

  • Filet Mignon
  • Ribeye
  • Top Sirloin

These cuts stand out, especially in the so-called Hilton Quota, a trade agreement that benefits premium meats.

In the European standard, the cuts are classified as:

  • “Loin”: category that includes filet mignon and ribeye
  • “Rump”: group that includes top sirloin and its subcuts

This segmentation facilitates the standardization, inspection, and valuation of Brazilian products in the international market.

What is the Hilton Quota?

The Hilton Quota is a trade mechanism that allows the export of a limited volume of high-quality beef to the European Union with a reduced tariff, around 20%.

Brazil is among the countries authorized to operate within this regime, increasing the competitiveness of national meatpacking plants.

In addition, the quota is exclusively aimed at noble and fresh beef cuts, reinforcing the country’s positioning as a supplier of premium products.
