Free Courses Are Promoted by Veiga de Almeida University and Include Activities for Young Adults and the Elderly. Classes Start on April 14, with Classes for Different Levels of Knowledge.

The Veiga de Almeida University (UVA) is accepting registrations for free courses in Portuguese and English, starting on April 14. The classes are 100% online and can be taken by anyone in Brazil who has internet access and a desire to learn.
The initiative is completely free and is part of two projects developed by the Languages course at the University. The focus is to help elementary and middle school students, adults in retraining, and even the elderly to develop linguistic skills. In the case of English, interested individuals must take a placement test before starting.

The English course will have three levels available (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) with weekly 1h30 classes, which is ideal for those seeking more consistent study.

How the Selection Process Works
For the Portuguese course, the process is quite straightforward: just access the UVAprova project site, fill out the form with basic information, and select the area of interest. After that, the applicant waits for confirmation by email and receives all the instructions regarding the class schedule and access to the platform. There is no minimum age requirement.
For the English course, the interested party needs to be at least 15 years old and take a placement test, which helps determine if the student should enter the basic, intermediate, or advanced level. This test is also taken online and takes about 30 minutes. After this step, the University sends confirmation of the class and schedule.
Where to Register
Registrations are made individually for each course, directly at the LINKS ABOVE. For UVAprova (Portuguese), the deadline is until March 31. For Freire-Mandela (English), the form is available until April 7. Both sites belong to the University itself and offer technical support for those who have difficulties during registration.
It is important to remember that spots are limited, and demand tends to be high, especially for language courses. So the sooner you register, the better!
