Become a Specialist in Sociology! Free Online Course (EAD) for High School Teachers. Enrollments Open!

The Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) has opened enrollments for the free online (EAD) specialization course in sociology teaching for high school, as per Notice 001/2024. With a total of 150 spots, the initiative is part of the Open University of Brazil Program (UAB), providing quality training for basic education teachers, especially those working in public networks.

The free specialization course aims to qualify high school teachers in Social Sciences, providing theoretical and practical support to face the challenges of everyday school life. Conducted online (EAD), it includes two mandatory in-person meetings, one at the beginning and another at the end of the course. With a duration of 18 months and a total workload of 360 hours, the activities are distributed across three modules covering methodologies, history of sociology, political participation, and citizenship, as well as guidance for the Final Course Project (TCC).

Available Spots and Locations

There are 150 spots available for the free online (EAD) course distributed across five in-person support centers: Currais Novos, Macau, Natal, Patu, and São Gonçalo do Amarante. Each center has spots for general competition (AC), affirmative actions for Black people, Indigenous people, and persons with disabilities, as well as spots for UFRN staff.

Selection Process

The selection process for specialization occurs in four stages: validation of applications, document analysis, hetero-identification for Black candidates, and publication of the final result. There are reserved spots for affirmative actions, covering candidates who self-declare as Black, mixed race, Indigenous, or persons with disabilities, provided they prove their periodic condition.

Enrollment Requirements

Those interested in the free online (EAD) course must have a degree in Social Sciences or related areas (such as Anthropology or Political Science) and work as high school teachers. Internet access, knowledge of digital tools, and availability to participate in the in-person meetings at the selected centers are necessary.

Offered Courses

The specialization includes content such as teaching methodology, teaching practices, history of sociology, and citizenship, ensuring a comprehensive education for educators.
