If you are finishing high school or have already completed it and dream of entering university, this is the chance you have been waiting for. The Federal University of ABC (UFABC) has launched Public Notice No. 1/2026 – PROEC, opening doors for the UFABC Preparatory School (EPUFABC). This is an incredible opportunity for continued education and university extension, designed to strengthen your knowledge. The best part? It is a free course completely exempt from tuition or registration fees, perfect for those seeking a quality pre-university course for the Enem and serving as an excellent pre-university course. With 584 available spots, the project aims to democratize access to public higher education.
As Carlos Mendes, an expert in inclusive education, emphasizes: “Extension initiatives within federal universities not only teach content but immerse students in the academic reality, significantly increasing their chances of approval and retention in higher education.”
How the Free Preparatory Course Works
The primary objective of the Preparatory School is to cover content from High School, specifically focusing on the matrix of skills and competencies required for the Enem (National High School Exam). Unlike massive online courses, this pre-university course emphasizes direct interaction: the offering will be in-person.

In addition to lectures, the course includes extracurricular activities and practice tests, which may occur on Saturdays or Sundays, essential for training for the exam rhythm.
It is important to note that attendance is taken seriously: a minimum attendance of 75% is required to keep your spot.
What You Will Study
Although it is a unique preparatory course (Preparatory School), the curriculum is vast and covers all knowledge areas required for major entrance exams.
The public notice organizes learning into the following technological and scientific areas:
- Language, Codes and Their Technologies: Includes studying texts, bodily practices, literature, argumentation, and digital genres.
- Mathematics and Its Technologies: Focus on numerical, geometric, statistical, probability, and algebraic knowledge.
- Natural Sciences: Covers Physics (motion, energy, waves), Chemistry (transformations, materials, carbon compounds), and Biology (cells, heredity, ecology, evolution).
- Human Sciences: Studies on cultural diversity, social organization, politics, productive structures, and spatial representation.
Spots and Where Classes Take Place
The public notice offers a significant total of 584 spots for the 2026 academic year. They are distributed among the UFABC campuses in the cities of Santo André and São Bernardo do Campo.
Check how the division turned out so you can choose the best option:
- Santo André Campus (Afternoon): 130 spots for General Competition, 70 for PPI (Black, Brown, and Indigenous), and 6 for PcD (People with Disabilities).
- Santo André Campus (Night): 130 spots for General Competition and 70 for PPI.
- São Bernardo Campus (Afternoon): 90 spots for General Competition and 70 for PPI.
- Supplementary Spots (Time/Location to Choose): 6 spots for Transgender/Transvestites, 6 for Refugees/Humanitarian Migrants, and 6 for Outsourced Employees of UFABC.
Afternoon classes occur from 1:30 PM to 6:00 PM, and night classes (only in Santo André) from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM.
Benefits: How Much Does This Preparatory School Cost?
This is the best part: UFABC exempts candidates from any registration fee, and students do not pay any tuition. It is, in fact, a free course completely exempt from tuition or registration fees.
However, the public notice clarifies that there is no cash scholarship (financial aid) provided for students’ maintenance.
Transportation and food costs are the responsibility of the student, and the course does not grant the right to a student free pass, as it is classified as an extension and not regular basic education.
How Selection Works and Quotas for the Enem Preparatory Course
The selection process is inclusive and detailed. There is a strong affirmative action policy, reserving spots for self-declared black, brown, and indigenous candidates (PPI), people with disabilities (PcD), transgender or transvestite individuals (TT), refugees (RRM), and outsourced university employees.
To determine who gets in, there will be an In-Person Classification Test. The assessment will consist of 50 multiple-choice questions based on High School content.
The classification will be made from highest to lowest score within each registration group. In other words, your performance on the test determines your spot in this preparatory course for the Enem.
Who Can Participate
To enroll in this preparatory school, you do not need to worry about age limits, but having a completed or ongoing college degree is prohibited.
The basic requirement for general competition and PPI categories is to have completed all of high school in a public school (or be enrolled in the last year in 2026), or have completed it through EJA/Equivalency, or have certification through the Enem or Encceja.
Students from private schools cannot compete in these categories. For enrollment, which is in-person, you will only need your original ID (or an official photo ID) and to know your school and contact information.
