Meet the GNA II Plant
Located in the municipality of São João da Barra (RJ), the GNA II thermoelectric plant is scheduled to be delivered and commence operations in January 2025. Like GNA I, the project will also consist of 3 gas turbines and 1 steam turbine, all supplied by Siemens. With an installed capacity of 1.6 GW, the GNA II plant will connect to the National Interconnected System (SIN) via a 500 kV transmission line.
The plant, controlled by the companies BP, SPIC Brazil, and Siemens Energy, received in December last year the first disbursement granted by the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), in the amount of R$ 2.4 billion. This amount is part of the financing contract signed with BNDES in 2021, totaling approximately R$ 4 billion.
