Investments in Solar Energy in Brazil Exceed 74.6 Billion Reais, Among Large Plants, and Generated Over 420 Thousand Jobs Since 2012
2022 has been a historic year for solar energy in Brazil, which surpassed 14 GW of operational capacity and exceeded the hydroelectric plant of Itaipu, which generates enough energy to supply the planet Earth for 19 hours! The new record from Aldo Solar, a leader in solar energy generation solutions in the country, turns the expectations generated for the year following the approval of the Legal Framework for Distributed Generation (Law No. 14,300/2022), published on January 6th, into a pleasant reality.

This year proves to be the most advantageous for adopting solar energy, as the new fees will only take effect in 2045 for those who purchase their generator in 2022. Achieving 30 thousand systems sold in approximately three months shows that the public is aware of the advantages and intends to take full advantage.
Thus, the growth of the sector has been evident. According to data collected from the ANEEL website, by December 2021, the country already had 404,733 ON GRID generators installed in Brazilian homes or businesses.

Solar Plants Are the Sixth Largest Source of Electricity Generation in Brazil and Have Already Surpassed the Itaipu Hydroelectric Plant, as Well as Oil and Other Fossil Fuel Thermal Plants
The new investments in the area exceed 74.6 billion reais among large plants and energy generation systems, generating more than 420 thousand jobs accumulated since 2012.
Today, solar plants are the sixth largest source of generation in Brazil and are present in all regions of the country. Still in March 2022, the country surpassed the mark of 14 GW of capacity, combining large plants and self-generation on rooftops. Thus, solar energy surpassed the installed capacity of the Itaipu hydroelectric power plant, according to a mapping by ABSOLAR.
When combining the capacities of large plants and self-generation, the solar source ranks fifth, having also surpassed the installed capacity of oil and other fossil fuel thermal plants.
Over 5.7 Million Solar Panels Have Been Sold by Aldo Solar
230 thousand solar energy generators have been sold by Aldo Solar. This number represents over 2.2 GW of distributed generation capacity and more than 5.7 million solar panels. This reinforces the national presence of the company, which holds a 26% market share and delivers a solar energy generator every 2 minutes. The photovoltaic energy generated by this capacity avoided more than 18 million tons of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere.
Studies also reveal that for every ton of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emitted, it is necessary to plant 7.14 trees to prevent the planet from suffering the damages caused by this emission. Therefore, Aldo’s numbers correspond to over 22 thousand trees recovered.
“The milestone of 230 thousand generators sold fills us with pride and motivation. Each generator delivered is a step towards a future of more sustainable measures, with greater harmony between natural resources and our modern lifestyle. This achievement belongs to the entire community of resellers, installers, and consumers who support us. Our more than 13 thousand clients continue with us on this journey towards a Brazil powered by the positive energy of the sun,” explains Aldo Pereira Teixeira, founder and president of ALDO Solar.
