Quebec seeks to position itself as a new eldorado for Brazilians. The Canadian province offers an environment renowned for its safety, tolerance for cultural diversity and excellent socioeconomic indicators, such as the lowest unemployment rate in Canada – 4,9%.
The agency's strategy is part of an initiative endorsed by the Ministry of Immigration, Francization and Integration (MIFI), and meets a Canadian government directive. The country wants to overcome the population deficit problem and intends to admit more than 1,2 million permanent residents by 2023. “And Brazilians are very well regarded by Quebec companies due to their competence and ease of cultural adaptation”, he comments. Depending on the numbers and opportunities available, Québec can already prepare itself for high demand. In the last six years before the pandemic, the volume of Definitive Exit Statements registered by the Federal Revenue grew by 125%. The consulting firm Hayman-Woodward accounts for an average of 2,3 cases of expatriation per year.

In the virtual recruitment initiative Journées Québec Brazil, there are more than 340 jobs available in the areas of nursing, IT, games and manufacturing.
Since 2013, more than 500 Brazilians have been hired by companies in Quebec. Now, the expectation is to attract professionals to more than 100 vacancies in the nursing area, 150 in the IT area and games and 90 in manufacturing.
In all, 25 local companies participate in this recruitment. Those interested in living and working in Canada must meet three basic requirements to participate in the mission – having a technical or university degree in the area of the vacancy, in addition to professional experience in the sector and a level of French commensurate with the requirements of the job vacancy.
