USP Offers A Unique Chance For Transformation For Basic Education Teachers, With Free And Updated Courses Covering Essential Areas For The Teaching Of The Future.

The University of São Paulo (USP) announced the opening of registrations for the 26th USP School Meeting, with the start scheduled for May 1st.

In total, approximately 50 free courses are offered, aimed at basic education teachers, with options for participation in both the capital city and in the interior cities of the state.

The extension project, which has been in existence for 14 years, provides a unique opportunity for updating and training educators, with activities scheduled for the second semester of 2025.

Registrations, which are completely free, can be made online until May 29th through the USP Apolo system, available to all interested parties.

This event is one of the largest university extension projects of the institution and aims to promote the exchange of experiences between university teachers and basic education teachers, focusing on solving contemporary educational challenges.

Registration Openings And Details About The Courses

The USP School Meeting, which is held twice a year, always takes place during school holidays.

For the 2025 edition, activities will take place between July 14th and 16th, with courses offered at the College of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences (FFLCH) and the Institute of Chemistry (IQ), both on the Butantã campus, as well as the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (EACH), located at the USP Leste campus in the capital.

In the interior of the state, the cities of São Carlos and Ribeirão Preto will also host activities for the event.

The schedule for the USP School Meeting is diverse, with 30-hour update courses, discussion rounds, lectures, workshops, and debate tables covering a wide range of topics related to basic education curricula.

The event is divided into five major areas of knowledge: Education, Humanities, Languages, Mathematics, and Nature.

Among the course options, topics such as robotics and artificial intelligence, genetics, astronomy, Afro-Brazilian culture, biotechnology, food chemistry, and climate change stand out.

Objective of the Meeting: To Promote Dialogue Between Different Knowledge Areas

Since its inception, the central objective of the USP School Meeting has been to promote dialogue between universities and schools.

The project aims not only to update basic education teachers but also to foster the integration of academic and pedagogical knowledge, emphasizing the application of new knowledge in everyday school life.

This year’s opening panel will have the theme “What Kind of School Do We Want?”, encouraging reflections on the directions of education in Brazil and the paths for transforming teaching in the country.

According to information from USP, since its reformulation in 2011, the USP School Meeting has already served more than 13,000 teachers from all over Brazil.

In its current version, the event includes the participation of differing university units, covering various fields of knowledge.

The Participation of Over 13,000 Teachers is a reflection of the positive impact of the event, which seeks to transform the educational process through the ongoing training of educators.

A Project for Integration With The School Community

The USP School Meeting is one of the main projects linked to the USP School Proximity Program, from the Pro-Rectory of Culture and University Extension (PRCEU), which aims to strengthen the relationships between the university and schools across the state of São Paulo.

The event is carried out in partnership with the Association of Public School Teachers (APEP), contributing to the construction of an education more connected with the new demands of society and the technological transformations that directly impact the school world.

The project initially emerged in 2007, at the Institute of Physics (IF) at USP, focused exclusively on teachers in the field of Physics.

However, with the success of the initiative and adherence to the Capes New Talents Program (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel), in 2011, the Meeting acquired a new configuration, with a significant expansion of its scope, now including all areas of knowledge.

Since then, the training has become a reference for teachers of various subjects and levels of education.

How To Register For The Free Courses

To register for the free courses of the 26th USP School Meeting, interested parties must access the Apolo System from May 1st and complete registration by May 29th.

Places are limited, and registration is mandatory for participation in the activities.

Additionally, the event offers certificates of participation for educators who complete the proposed courses and activities, adding value to the curriculum of education professionals.

Throughout the three days of the event, participants will have the opportunity to learn new methodologies and teaching strategies that can be applied in the classroom, as well as exchange experiences with other educators.
