Ferraz de Vasconcelos Focuses on Expanding Employability
In March of this year, the actions of the NGO Gerando Falcões in the Favela 3D program were concluded in a community in Ferraz de Vasconcelos. The focus in this and other communities is to make the spaces dignified, digital, and developed.
One of the advances of the initiative in the city is in the area of employability, which reached a rate of 95%. Additionally, the streets now have paving stones, the poles have LED lighting, and part of the shanties has been replaced with houses. The area also has internet via Wi-FI.
A sign at the entrance of the community, formerly known as Boca do Sapo, accompanies each achievement: 80% of residents have undergone professional training, 80% of the spaces have been revitalized, and 87% of the homes have been transformed, according to the Dignometer.
According to the leader of the Favela dos Sonhos, Bruno Desidério, when the project started a year ago, it was almost a war zone. People were shattered, with low self-esteem, not knowing what tomorrow would bring, lacking empowerment, and plans, and now it is completely different.
