The Positions of PPMT Offered by Senai and Vale Aim to Develop the Market in Canaã dos Carajás

In partnership with the National Service for Industrial Training (Senai), the mining company Vale launches the Job Market Preparation Program (PPMT) in Canaã dos Carajás, a municipality in Pará. The project has 200 positions for professional training.

The goal of Vale and Senai in offering the positions for the program is to increase the job market in the region and ensure that students are hired by local businesses and commerce, providing professional and behavioral training for the population, which facilitates students’ integration into the job market. In addition to this focus, Vale and Senai also have other goals: to facilitate local community access to job and income opportunities generated in the municipality; to offer professional training through free courses in partnership with nationally recognized institutions; and to promote well-being, safety, and development.

The model for delivering classes will be in-person or, in respect to current health recommendations, the classes will take place remotely, online, through educational websites and platforms that are already being used by other educational institutions. The positions are directed only to students who can prove residency in Canaã dos Carajás or in one of the other participating communities.

Positions Will Be Offered for the Following Courses from Vale and Senai:

• Reinforcing Steel Installer: this course has a duration of 160 hours and requires completion of elementary education;
• Land Surveying Assistant: the course has a total duration of 160 hours and, to compete for the positions, one must have completed elementary education;
• Carpenter: this Senai course also has a duration of 160 hours and it is essential to have completed elementary education for these positions;
• Industrial Electrician: with a duration of 160 hours, to compete for the positions in this course one must already have completed high school;
• Industrial Maintenance Mechanic: with a duration of 160 hours, this course also requires completion of high school;
• Mine Equipment Operator: like the previous ones, has a duration of 160 hours and requires high school completion. However, it is scheduled to start in the second semester of this year;
• Structural Mason: the course has a total duration of 160 hours and, to compete for the positions, one must have completed elementary education.

Requirements to Participate in the Selection Process for the Positions of Senai in Partnership with Vale:

• Must be at least 18 years old;
• Minimum education: must have completed elementary school and, depending on the course chosen, must also have completed high school;
• Must reside in Canaã dos Carajás or in one of the following communities: Vila Ouro Verde, PA União Américo Santana, Vila Feitosa, Vila Planalto, Vila Nova Jerusalém, and Vila Bom Jesus, which also offer positions for the courses.
