The Jetta has the highest starting bid in the auction
Among the cars, the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta has the highest initial value, set at R$ 11,652.
Next is a 2012/2013 Hyundai Tucson GLSB, with a minimum bid of R$ 11,535, followed by a 2013 Toyota Etios Sedan XLS, initially valued at R$ 9,851.
All three were collected in Campo Grande.
The list also includes a 2009/2010 Fiat Palio Weekend Adventure for R$ 7,530 and a 2002/2003 Volkswagen Saveiro 1.6 Supersurf for R$ 7,301.
The cheapest bid in the auction starts at R$ 1,417
On the other end of the table is a 1996 Honda CG 125 Titan, with an initial bid of R$ 1,417.
Motorcycles dominate the volume of the auction. There are 88 lots, with models manufactured in 2025 and 2026 starting at R$ 4,000, according to Campo Grande News.
This is where the real competition usually lies.
A lightly used motorcycle with a starting bid of four thousand attracts many more bidders than a 2010 sedan, as the entry cost is more manageable for buyers and the registration expenses are significantly lower.
As a result, the final price of a motorcycle usually rises well above the minimum, while a more expensive car may sometimes sell close to its initial bid.
Visitation is this Tuesday and Wednesday, and it’s visual only
This is the critical point that separates informed purchasing from loss.
The vehicles can be inspected in person on September 8 and 9, from 9 AM to 11 AM and 1 PM to 5 PM.
However, the inspection is visual only. There are no engine tests, no startups, and no access to the mechanical history of the vehicle sitting in the lot.
Those who have purchased at auction before know what this means: you’re buying bodywork, paperwork, and a bit of luck.
Bringing someone knowledgeable in mechanics to the visitation can help. It’s possible to assess tire condition, signs of collision, corrosion, and the level of oxidation without starting the engine, which eliminates many of the worst surprises.
Where the lots are located
In Campo Grande, visitation takes place at the PMAX lot, located at 16 Gigante Adamastor Street, in the Jardim Santa Felicidade neighborhood.
In Dourados, the vehicles are available for evaluation at the PMAX unit located at 11,355 Moacir Djalma Barros Avenue, in the Núcleo Colonial district.
It’s advisable to check the address before leaving home, as the lots do not circulate between the two cities.
This means that a car collected in Dourados remains in Dourados, and those in Campo Grande would need to drive there if they want to see the vehicle in person before placing a bid.
Bidding closes at 3 PM on Thursday
The closing is set for September 10 at 3 PM, and bidding continues online until that time.
The notice was opened on August 27, so newcomers are entering the final stretch of the process. The visitation window is the last opportunity to inspect the vehicle before placing a bid.
After that, the only value that counts is what the system has recorded.
Online auctions typically see bidding concentrated in the last minutes, so those joining late Thursday will find a very different scenario from what was displayed in the morning.
The bid is not the final price, and this is the classic trap
The amount displayed in the table is just the starting point.
A 5% auctioneer commission applies to the winning bid. Additionally, the buyer is responsible for the transfer of the vehicle, outstanding IPVA (vehicle tax), and any pending licensing fees.
In other words, a Jetta priced at R$ 11,652 doesn’t only cost R$ 11,652. You need to add the commission, fees for the broker, any debts, and the cost to bring a car that has been idle for years back to running condition.
It’s understandable why many get excited at the auction and decide against regularizing afterward.
Why Detran auctions are becoming more frequent
A towing yard costs public money. Each vehicle takes up space, requires surveillance, and deteriorates while the administrative process is ongoing.
Therefore, state agencies have been accelerating the turnover of lots, separating those that can still circulate from those that have turned into scrap.
A similar movement was observed in São Paulo recently, when Detran-SP separated the auction of well-maintained vehicles from the scrap auction.
What hasn’t been confirmed in this report
The 103 vehicles eligible for circulation come from a larger set of lots that also includes usable and unusable scrap.
A significantly higher market assessment for the Jetta circulated, suggesting a substantial discount from the table price. This figure wasn’t verified through publicly available sources, thus it will not be included in this article.
