The Agropalma Company Decided to Make a New Investment in a Gas-Powered Truck to Save More Than R$ 500 Thousand The Gas Truck Can Generate a Savings of R$ 220 Thousand Per Year and Will Help the Environment, One of the Pillars of the Company.

On the morning of last Monday (07/18), the Agropalma Company announced that it opted to invest in a truck powered by gas with the aim of saving more than 500 thousand reais and promoting improvements for the environment. The company forecasts a reduction of 21% in pollutant emissions starting from the ninth trip.

Company Has Combating Climate Change as One of Its Main Pillars

The Agropalma company, the largest producer of palm oil in the Americas, has combating climate change as one of its main pillars and renewed its commitment to sustainability through the development of a green logistics project that will reduce CO2 emissions by about 21% on a predefined route starting in São Paulo. The company concluded the first half of 2021 by acquiring a truck powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) for its operations.

With this decision, Agropalma becomes a pioneer in the use of less polluting fuel. In this sense, the fuel change brings several advantages to the environment, such as a significant reduction in hydrogen oxide emissions and the suspension of sulfur oxides, gases responsible for acid rain. Moreover, the company estimates a 21% reduction in CO2 emissions, representing about 36,000 kg per year.

In this way, Agropalma’s Administrative Director, Marcella Novaes, stated: “We have been working for the past two years on various initiatives focused on green logistics and our latest action will be the implementation of this first truck powered by natural gas, which besides the environmental gain, we had an interesting financial return as a result.”

In addition to the significant benefits brought to the environment, the company’s calculations reveal that starting from the ninth trip of the truck on the planned route, the costs of diesel and gas transportation will reach a break-even point. The expectation is to achieve a savings of R$ 220 thousand per year.
