Volkswagen Fox Connect Remains Strong Amidst the Arrival of the Polo
In 2021, the Brazilian automotive market was awaiting the end of the Volkswagen Fox with the arrival of the Polo. However, the Fox Connect, the basic version of the model from 2018 to 2021, surprised everyone by remaining robust. Offered for just over R$ 62 thousand, the model provided an excellent cost/benefit ratio, competing with models such as Onix, Argo, Ka, and HB20, which, in the same price range, were entry-level versions with a 1.0 engine and fewer features, according to the Notícias Automotivas website.
The Fox Connect, despite its distinct name, followed the design of the Fox sold previously in Brazil. Equipped with a 1.6-liter flex engine with eight valves and a five-speed manual transmission, it stood out with the following standard items:
- Electric Steering
- On-Board Computer
- Multi-Functional Steering Wheel
- Multimedia Center with a 6.5-Inch Touchscreen and Smartphone Mirroring via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- Interior Space and Comfort
With ample interior space and a high driving position reminiscent of a compact SUV, the Fox Connect offered comfort for up to four adults. The trunk, although small, could be expanded by folding the rear seat. The car also featured adjustable height and depth for the steering column, as well as driver’s seat height adjustment.

Cost/Benefit Ratio of the Volkswagen Car
The Fox Connect’s biggest differentiator was its cost/benefit ratio. For around R$ 62 thousand, it offered a list of features hard to find in other models, especially with a 1.6 engine. Additionally, it had almost no optional extras, the only one being a R$ 250 package that added visual and finishing resources.
Currently, 2018 to 2021 Fox Connect models can be found in the range of R$ 55,448 to R$ 63,590, according to the Fipe table from April 2024. Available in five colors, the Fox Connect featured a reliable engine, the 1.6 MSI, which, although not modern, delivered good performance.
Although nearly 17 years on the road, the Volkswagen Fox Connect still presents an interesting option for those seeking a complete car, at an affordable price. With its discontinuation, the model goes down in history as a solid and economical alternative within the Brazilian automotive market.
