The New VW Tera Stands Out for Good Consumption, Three Versions and 1.0-TSI or 1.0-MPI Engine. Check Out the Consumption Data, Versions, Prices and What Makes the Volkswagen Tera a Competitive Option.

Volkswagen launched in Brazil the new Volkswagen Tera, a national compact SUV that quickly took 4th place among the best-selling models in the country, with approximately 7,610 units registered in September.

What makes this model so sought after? Who is behind this launch? Where is it produced? How is the consumption? And why could it be a good option now?

The Volkswagen Tera is manufactured in Taubaté (SP), comes with versions featuring a 1.0 MPI aspirated or 1.0 TSI turbo engine, with prices ranging from approximately R$ 99,990 to R$ 139,990, in addition to consumption figures provided by Inmetro. Therefore, understanding its consumption, performance, and versions helps those considering buying or switching SUVs.

After all, the consumption of the Volkswagen Tera and its energy efficiency are key elements for the public seeking excellent cost-benefit.

Consumption by Version of the Volkswagen Tera

Next, see how the consumption of the Volkswagen Tera varies according to the version and fuel/type of use, and why these numbers matter.

1.0 MPI (Base) Version

In the basic configuration, the Volkswagen Tera 1.0 MPI flex has an aspirated engine, a five-speed manual transmission, and delivers 84 hp. According to Inmetro data, this version achieves 13.2 km/l in the city and 14.7 km/l on the highway with gasoline, or 9.1 km/l and 10.2 km/l with ethanol.

This level of consumption shows that the Volkswagen Tera, even in the base version, can deliver efficiency for daily use — something valued by those driving in big cities seeking economy.

1.0 TSI Manual Version

In the intermediate version with a 1.0 TSI turbo engine and a five-speed manual transmission, fuel consumption was 12.9 km/l in the city and 15.0 km/l on the highway with gasoline; 9.0 km/l and 10.3 km/l with ethanol.

It’s interesting to note that, despite greater performance, the VW Tera maintains a good balance between power and consumption. For those who want a bit more agility, this version may be worth it.

Comfortline and Highline Versions (Automatic TSI)

The most complete versions of the Volkswagen Tera come with a 1.0 TSI engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.

Here, consumption reached about 12.2 km/l with gasoline in the city and 8.6 km/l with ethanol; on the highway, 14.5 km/l with gasoline and 10.3 km/l with ethanol.

In other words, in urban use, the automatic transmission somewhat penalizes consumption — something to consider if you drive a lot in the city.

Why the Volkswagen Tera Stands Out in the Market

In addition to consumption figures, there are other factors that make the Volkswagen Tera stand out — and they help explain why it positions well in its price range.

  • Domestic Manufacturing: the Volkswagen Tera is produced in Taubaté, SP, which can favor the availability of parts and after-sales support.
  • Varied Versions: with either aspirated or turbo engines, manual or automatic transmissions, the Volkswagen Tera caters to both those seeking an entry-level price and those wanting more equipment.
  • Safety: the Volkswagen Tera received 5 stars from the Latin American evaluation organization Latin NCAP, a relevant differentiator for the segment.

Therefore, for those considering acquiring a compact SUV today, the Volkswagen Tera offers more than just efficient consumption — it delivers safety, technology, and variety of versions.

What to Consider Before Choosing the VW Tera

Even with good attributes, when evaluating the Volkswagen Tera, it’s worth considering some practical points.

Type of Use: if you drive a lot in the city with heavy traffic, the automatic version may consume more. In urban conditions, the consumption of the automatic version was lower than that of the manual.

Fuel: the data shows a clear difference between gasoline and ethanol. If you predominantly use ethanol, the impact on consumption is greater.

Maintenance and After-sales: despite domestic manufacturing, check the availability of dealerships, maintenance costs, and parts for the version of the Volkswagen Tera you intend to buy.

Intended Version: the top-of-the-line versions of the Volkswagen Tera come with more equipment, which may increase the cost but also enhance the use and resale value.

Real Range: consumption figures are based on regulatory standards. Use as a reference, but in real-life usage, results may vary depending on driving style, load, air conditioning, and terrain.

The Volkswagen Tera emerges as a solid option in the domestic compact SUV segment.

With good consumption figures, varied versions, emphasis on safety, and local production, the model positions itself as an intelligent alternative for those wanting a new car with a balance between cost and benefit.

When considering the VW Tera, evaluate how you use the vehicle — whether primarily urban or highway — and choose the version that fits your profile.

In the end, consumption, which is one of the most sought-after factors today, comes out well in the Volkswagen Tera, but the ideal choice will depend on your routine and preferences.
