Volkswagen Sold 41,475 Electric Cars In Germany In The First Half Of This Year, Just Ahead Of Tesla, Which Sold 40,289 Vehicles.
In the recent battle for supremacy in Electric Cars, Volkswagen (VW) has taken the lead, surpassing even Tesla in sales in Germany. The innovation behind this turnaround was the new electric version of the iconic Kombi, known as ID.Buzz. This achievement positions VW and Tesla as the top titans of the electric car market in the European country.
Dominating The Electric Car Market: Volkswagen vs. Tesla
As of July this year, Volkswagen sold an impressive 41,475 electric cars in Germany, just slightly ahead of Tesla, which sold 40,289 units. This stellar performance places both automakers significantly ahead of other competitors in the market, such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

In just the first seven months of the year, 2,815 of these vans were purchased by Germans, solidifying their status as a desired electric vehicle. Despite the notoriety of the ID.Buzz, Volkswagen’s ID.4 and ID.5 models remain its flagship cars, with combined sales of 22,405 units through July.

With a total of 268,926 new registrations of Electric Cars in Germany from January to July 2023, it is clear that the demand for more eco-friendly vehicles is on the rise. However, fossil fuel-powered vehicles still dominate the landscape, with sales exceeding 1.64 million in the same period.
The growing popularity of electric vehicles, driven by innovations such as the Electric Kombi, suggests a promising future for this category, with Volkswagen and Tesla at the forefront of this automotive revolution.
Electric Kombi In Brazil
Volkswagen has already informed that Brazil will have the chance to receive an exclusive quantity of the electric Kombi model, with only 70 units available for subscription. Although the German automaker has kept the specifics under wraps, including price and exact launch date, it is assured that this information will be revealed soon.
To give an idea of the prices, in Europe, the ID Buzz has a starting price of 56,090 euros (approximately R$ 294 thousand) for the Cargo version. Meanwhile, the variant with capacity for five passengers is sold for 64,581 euros, which is equivalent to about R$ 338 thousand.
