Volkswagen Car Leads Used Car Market: VW Gol Sells Over 65,000 Units in April and Stands Out in 2025
The Volkswagen Gol continues to be one of the strongest names in the Brazilian automotive market. Even with the end of production, the model remains unbeatable among used cars. According to data from Fenauto, the used Volkswagen Gol was the best-selling car in the country in April 2025, with 65,355 units sold, comfortably surpassing its main competitors. The result reinforces the appeal of Volkswagen’s car among consumers looking for cost-effectiveness and affordable maintenance.
The impressive sales volume of the VW Gol also accompanies the overall growth of the used and semi-new market. More than 1 million vehicles were sold in April, an increase of 8.2% compared to March and 10.7% compared to April 2024. In total, 5,373,438 used vehicles were sold in just the first four months of 2025, showing that the sector remains active and has strong popular preference.

This performance reflects the current trend of Brazilian consumers: seeking vehicles with good cost-effectiveness, lower maintenance costs, and greater availability in the replacement market. Today, the volume of used cars sold in the country is five times higher than that of new cars, highlighting a shift in purchasing profiles driven by the high prices of zero-kilometer vehicles.
Furthermore, data from Fenabrave (National Federation of Automotive Vehicle Distribution) show that the Gol also led registrations among new vehicles, with 10,932 units in April. However, this number was significantly surpassed by the sales of the used model, which had 497.8% more registrations.

Older Used Cars Dominate Sales in 2025
A detailed analysis of the data shows that vehicles aged 13 years or more accounted for the largest share of sales in April, with 524,398 units, or 35.3% of the total. This trend indicates that the market is absorbing older models, mainly due to their more accessible price.
Following closely are used cars with 4 to 8 years of use, totaling 348,931 units. These vehicles tend to offer a good balance between modernity, technology, and maintenance costs.
Used vehicles with up to 3 years had 314,667 units sold, while vehicles classified as “mature” (between 9 and 12 years of use) totaled 299,405 units — the category with the lowest transaction volume. The competition between these segments is directly related to consumer purchasing power and the perception of the car’s durability.
Best Used Volkswagen Gol to Buy in 2025
Even out of production, the VW Gol remains an excellent option in the used car market. One of the most recommended models currently is the 1.0 MPI 2020, which combines competitive pricing, balanced fuel consumption, and reliable mechanics — ideal for those looking for an urban car or purchasing their first vehicle.
The 1.0 three-cylinder engine with up to 84 horsepower (ethanol) delivers simple yet functional performance. The average fuel consumption is satisfactory: about 9.5 km/l with ethanol and 13.5 km/l with gasoline in urban driving; on highways, the figures rise to 10.5 km/l (ethanol) and 15 km/l (gasoline).
Among the main highlights of the used Volkswagen Gol are:
- Low maintenance costs
- Large availability of parts in the market
- Easy resale
- Good acceptance by insurance companies
- Ideal for urban and daily use
Its compact design makes parking and driving in large cities easier. Inside, the finish is simple, with more rustic but functional materials. The multimedia center, although optional in some versions, can be installed later, adding value to the model.
With new vehicle prices rising, the market for used and semi-new cars is expected to remain active, especially for models that offer a good performance history, like the VW Gol. Before closing a deal, it’s worth checking the vehicle’s condition, maintenance history, and provenance.
