New VW Tera 2026 Launches in Brazil with 1.0 MPI Engine, Starting Price of R$ 105,890, Complete Safety Package, and Efficient Consumption.
What is the VW Tera 2026, who is behind it, when is it arriving, where does it fit in, how does it present itself, and why does it draw attention? Volkswagen launched the new entry SUV of the brand in Brazil, debuting with the VW Tera 2026 1.0 MPI version, sold starting at R$ 105,890.
The model arrives as the manufacturer’s bet to win over the average consumer, in addition to offering a good safety package and equipment, but with performance limited by the naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine.
The New Entry SUV from Volkswagen
The VW Tera 2026 was born with the mission of being the brand’s new access vehicle in the compact SUV segment, occupying the space left by hatchbacks that have lost relevance.

The VW Tera 2026 1.0 MPI version surprises by not skimping on safety items, even being the cheapest in the lineup.
The SUV comes factory-equipped with 6 airbags, front collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, fatigue detection, and post-collision braking.
Thanks to this set of features, the model received a maximum safety rating from Latin NCAP, reinforcing Volkswagen’s strategy to deliver an entry car with a superior protection standard.
Technology and Comfort Inside
In addition to safety, the Tera 1.0 MPI delivers a well-equipped interior. It features a 10.1” VW Play multimedia center, an 8” digital panel, electric steering, air conditioning, height adjustment for the driver’s seat, multifunction steering wheel, electric mirrors and windows, LED headlights, and cruise control.
The finish has also been reconsidered. Despite the use of simple plastics, Volkswagen invested in good fittings and brought solutions that please, such as the return of the grab handles – absent in models like Nivus and T-Cross.
Design and Interior Space
The new Volkswagen SUV is built on the MQB A0 platform, the same as Polo, Nivus, and T-Cross, ensuring structural rigidity and greater refinement.
The Tera measures 4.15 m in length, 1.77 m in width, 1.50 m in height, and has a wheelbase of 2.56 m, dimensions that limit rear seat space when compared to larger compact SUVs.
The trunk holds 350 liters, a figure below direct competitors like Renault Kardian (410 liters) and Fiat Pulse (370 liters), but still competitive.
1.0 Naturally Aspirated Engine: Limited Performance
Under the hood, the VW Tera 2026 1.0 MPI brings the well-known naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine, already used in the Polo Track. It delivers up to 84 hp and 10.3 kgfm of torque with ethanol.
The five-speed manual transmission is praised for its precision but does not resolve the short breath of the engine.
In tests, the SUV accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 15.4 seconds, modest performance compared to rivals. In recoveries, it also requires planning.
On the other hand, the fuel consumption is pleasing: 11.5 km/l in the city and 16.5 km/l on the highway with gasoline, numbers that place it among the most efficient in the category.
Is It Worth Buying the VW Tera 2026?
With a suggested price of R$ 105,890, the VW Tera 2026 positions itself as an important new entry in the SUV lineup, offering safety and technology in a modern package.
However, the limited performance of the 1.0 naturally aspirated engine may push away part of the audience looking for more agility in day-to-day use.
The competition also weighs in: the Fiat Pulse 1.3 manual costs less, starting at R$ 99,990, which can be decisive in a segment where financing is crucial for purchasing.
