Weg announces a billion-dollar investment of R$ 1.1 billion in Santa Catarina, reinforcing its position as one of the largest industrial technology companies in Brazil. The plan includes the construction of a new manufacturing plant in Jaraguá do Sul, budgeted at R$ 900 million, and the expansion of the Energy unit, with an additional R$ 160 million. The initiative will be executed by 2028 and promises the creation of approximately one thousand direct jobs, stimulating the economic development of the region.

According to the company, the decision takes into account the proximity to the local technical team, the availability of skilled labor, and the logistical infrastructure, with access to BR-280 and the main ports in Santa Catarina.

Structure of the Billion-Dollar Investment

The new manufacturing plant will focus on the production of large equipment, such as synchronous compensators of up to 330 MVAr, turbo generators of up to 200 MVA, and high-speed induction motors.

In addition, it will allow for an increase in the supply of services for motors, generators, and hydraulic turbines of up to 300 MVA.

This strategic advancement aims to meet the growing demand for energy solutions, consolidating Weg as a reference in industrial technology and energy infrastructure.

Expansion in Jaraguá do Sul

At the same time, the expansion of the Energy unit in Jaraguá do Sul will involve about R$ 160 million.

The construction will add 11,250 m² to the productive area, which should ensure greater operational efficiency and support the company’s organic growth.

The company emphasized that the expansion of the plant meets the consistent increase in demand for equipment already manufactured at the unit.
