The BT turbine has a capacity to admit over 330 t/h of steam at the condition of 65 bar/520 ºC, and will feed the plant’s process with two steam outputs, one taken at medium pressure and one exhaust at low pressure. Watch the video below to learn about the turbines and generators manufactured by WEG.
Expected to be delivered in December 2021, the equipment will be installed in the power generation process of the plant, making the operation more robust, flexible, and profitable.

According to Paulo Sinoti, Business Director of Energy at WEG, this supply not only consolidates WEG as one of the main suppliers of equipment for the sugar-energy sector, but also confirms the preference and trust of the client in the company’s products and services. “Cerradão Plant is already our client and has two turbo generators operating in this same plant,” explains the executive.
The Cerradão Plant has been located in the Frutal region, in the Triângulo Mineiro/MG, since 2008. Generating 84 MW/h with an installed capacity of 105 MW, it has enough energy to supply approximately 230 thousand inhabitants. With this investment, the plant expects a significant increase in power production and a return on the investment of approximately three years.
WEG, One of the Largest Manufacturers of Electric Motors in the World, Invests in Artificial Intelligence for Predictive Maintenance in Wind Turbines
WEG, one of the largest manufacturers of electric motors in the world, with a broad portfolio for renewable energy generation, has been seeking to innovate and provide the market with increasingly technological equipment. For the wind turbine (aerogenerator) segment, the company has been investing in artificial intelligence to plan predictive maintenance for the equipment. The solution works through cloud computing and is based on data collected remotely.
The application combines the WEGnology® platform and BirminD’s Artificial Intelligence, a company of the WEG Group. The artificial intelligence receives various data from wind turbines (aerogenerators) in real-time, processes this information using BirminD’s automachine learning solution, which tests dozens of algorithms automatically searching for the best performance, delivering as a result the prediction (future state) of variables of interest for the team monitoring the equipment.
In summary, the product communicates in real-time with the wind turbines (aerogenerators) and detects potential maintenance needs in advance, triggering the demand for a diagnosis and early corrective action, avoiding losses in the availability of the aerogenerators. By using data associated with the solution developed by WEG, it is possible to anticipate situations that influence the equipment’s availability, which can reflect gains in generation.
The solution is in an advanced validation stage before becoming available to the wind turbine (aerogenerator) market. It can also be applied to other sectors such as: temperature over-prediction in inverters, efficiency of furnaces, cycle time of extruders, energy consumption, production demand, and many other applications.
