Xiaomi Launches Its First Electric Car. Delivering 431 Horsepower, Xiaomi’s Electric Car May Cost R$ 200 Thousand.
In the last year, Xiaomi announced financing for startup Gongjianpai Auto Technology. Now, its first product has just arrived and it’s not a smartphone. It is the SSC SC-01, a sports electric car, but with characteristics of classic combustion models.
Xiaomi’s Electric Car Delivers 431 Horsepower
In Chinese, the sports vehicle is called XiaoPaoChe, which, in Portuguese, is something like “small sports car.” Hence the acronym SSC (Small Sport Car). The model weighs only 1,370 kg due to its tubular steel chassis.
This way, the 431 horsepower and all-wheel drive provided by the two electric motors are enough to propel Xiaomi’s electric car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5s. The vehicle’s batteries have a capacity of 60 kWh, with a declared range of 520 km and charging from 30% to 80% done in 25 minutes.

Xiaomi Will Invest 10 Billion Dollars in the Electric Car Sector
The multinational Xiaomi recently obtained essential approval to manufacture electric cars in China. This is another step for the company to begin the production of electric vehicles by the beginning of next year.
According to sources, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), which regulates new investments and production capacity in the Chinese vehicle industry, approved Xiaomi this month. The Chinese company had promised an investment of US$ 10 billion over a decade in the automotive sector.
While waiting for approval, the company advanced in the venture, completing the construction of facilities capable of producing up to 200,000 electric cars per year in Beijing, according to a report from the state newspaper Beijing Daily. The company’s goal is to produce its first electric cars in mass by the first half of 2024.
