In a Bold Move That Promises to Shake Up the Motorcycle Market, Yamaha Launches the MT-09 Y-AMT 2024, the First Automatic Motorcycle of Its Traditional Line.

While most manufacturers are still hesitant to abandon conventional standards, Yamaha takes a courageous step by introducing an innovative technology that promises to redefine the riding experience.

The presentation was made this Thursday (25). On this occasion, Yamaha officially revealed the MT-09 Y-AMT 2024, its first motorcycle with a fully automatic transmission, aside from scooters.

The model is equipped with the revolutionary “Yamaha Automated Manual Transmission” system, which allows the rider to choose between riding the motorcycle in fully automatic or manual mode, using a type of “butterfly” on the left grip for gear shifts.

Cutting-Edge Technology for Unprecedented Riding

The technology developed by Yamaha eliminates the need for a clutch lever and gear pedal. In automatic mode, the clutch and gearbox are operated by electric motors, providing a smoother and more intuitive riding experience.

The model offers two riding configurations: the D mode, which is smoother and focused on efficiency, and the D+, which unleashes the full aggressive potential of the MT-09.

According to Yamaha, the MT-09 Y-AMT also comes equipped with a proximity smart key, providing more convenience and security for the rider.

This innovation allows the motorcycle to be started without the need to physically insert the key, a feature that is becoming increasingly common in high-tech vehicles.

Powerful Engine to Challenge the Roads

Abroad, where the new generation of the MT-09 has already been launched, the motorcycle comes equipped with a 890 cc three-cylinder engine, capable of delivering 119 horsepower at 10,000 rpm and a torque of 9.5 kgfm at 7,000 rpm.

The Yamaha has also introduced significant improvements to the airbox and added an acoustic amplifier grille, enhancing the performance and sound of the motorcycle.

In Brazil, the MT-09 was presented as the 2025 model, still in the previous generation. Although the automatic version has not yet officially arrived in the country, there is an expectation that Yamaha will bring this innovation soon to Brazilian consumers, who are increasingly demanding and seeking new riding experiences.

The price of the Yamaha MT-09 Y-AMT 2024 has not yet been officially disclosed. However, it is expected that the brand will maintain a competitive strategy to capture a significant share of the automatic motorcycle market, which is still relatively unexplored.
