The forecast is that up to 11 jobs will be created for the construction of Klabin's industrial unit in the municipality of Ortigueira, in the region of Campos Gerais Paraná

The Paraná Worker Agencies will be responsible for intermediating part of the job vacancies that should be opened. Hiring will preferably be from residents of the region itself. “It is a grandiose project, the largest private investment in South America at this moment and the largest in the history of Paraná, and which deserves our government's full attention”, said Governor Ratinho Junior.

Jobs will be created through the Puma II Project, which includes the construction of two paper machines with integrated pulp production, which will receive investments of R$ 9,1 billion. The estimate is that the new plant will start production in 2021. Most job openings will be available from the second half of 2019.

In the agreement with Klabin, the priority is to hire local labor. According to Eder Colaço, director of the Department of Labor at the Secretariat for Justice, Family and Labor, vacancies will be made available to Worker Agencies throughout the State in order to increase and make more effective the generation of employment and income in Paraná.

The action complies with the determination of the Secretary of Justice, Family and Labor, Ney Leprevost, of a proactive format for attracting vacancies to be intermediated by the State Worker Agencies.

Technicians from the State Department of Labor have already held, since the beginning of the administration, meetings with several companies and in several municipalities with the objective of increasing the offer of job vacancies as directed by the governor.

New Klabin unit will have a BRL 1,3 billion machine

Valmet signed a contract for the supply of a large technology project for the production of packaging paper and cellulose with Klabin SA in Brazil. The sale consists of a PM27 kraftliner machine, a new fiberline, a Compact Cooking G3™ cooking system and the refurbishment of the pulp drying line. In addition, the two companies have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the delivery of a second PM28 kraftliner paper machine, a second cooking and fiberline system, in which final agreements are expected to be signed and the supply start in May 2021.

The sale of the PM27, the new fiberline, the new G3™ cooking system and the refurbishment of the drying line are included in orders received in the second quarter of 2019 by Valmet. The value of the investment is between 260 and 290 million euros, that is, between R$ 1,2 and R$ 1,3 billion.

The agreement for the delivery of the kraftliner production line is the first major sale in Valmet's packaging paper technology area in Brazil, and represents an important step forward for the Brazilian paper industry market for the Finnish multinational.
