The ABSOLAR Proposal Exclusively Discusses the Application of Solar Energy and Private Resources, Generating Jobs Through a Series of Regulatory Changes to Unlock Investments

The Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association (ABSOLAR) submitted a plan for the installation of 1 million new solar energy systems; the proposal was sent last month (July) to the Chief Minister of the Civil House, Braga Netto. Thus, the proposal could generate around 150,000 jobs for Brazil in two years.

Certainly, the ABSOLAR proposal discusses investments from private organizations. Such investments can only be made through some regulatory changes in Brazilian solar energy.

From the same perspective, if approved, there is an estimated investment that approaches over R$ 24.9 billion. Thus, it would be possible to generate 150,000 jobs and over R$ 7 billion in government taxes.

“Undeniably, the truth is that even amidst a crisis, solar energy had a significant leap in the first semesters of this year compared to the end of the previous year, 2019. I state that this is a growth of over 1300MW when considering distributed solar energy generation,” stated the executive president of ABSOLAR.

“Undeniably, even with the crisis, in the first semesters of this year, solar energy grew by 30% in its generation capacity. When compared to the total accumulated by the sector until the end of 2019 there was an increase of 1381 MW, considering centralized and distributed generation,” says Rodrigo Sauaia, ABSOLAR.

Therefore, in order for this project to be put into action, ABSOLAR requested full support from the Ministry of Economy, Mines, and Energy so that there could be a reduction in the final cost of credit, and thus, the possibility of creating a guarantor fund for distributed solar photovoltaic energy generation projects.

“Finally, we see that many of our projects launched in partnership with the Government enable a large portion of rural producers to utilize the power of this technology for work purposes,” adds Suaia, executive president of ABSOLAR.
