Electric SUV Production Will Begin in 2025 at the Former Troller Factory in Ceará, Aiming for Up to 40 Thousand Units Per Year.
General Motors announced that it will start assembling the Chevrolet Spark EUV electric SUV in Brazil in 2025.
The model will be produced at the former Troller factory, located in Horizonte, Ceará, which currently belongs to Comexport and has been renamed Pace.
This decision marks the beginning of a new strategy for the automaker to compete with Chinese electric vehicles, which are rapidly advancing in the Brazilian market.

The operation will start in SKD mode, with partially disassembled kits imported from China for local assembly.
Currently, the Spark EUV is sold in the country as an imported vehicle, with a price of R$ 159.990.
GM stated in a statement that this initiative represents the first step towards the industrialization of electric technology under its brand in Brazil, strengthening the local supply chain and expanding the range of mobility solutions in the country.
Former Troller Plant Is Adapted for Electric Vehicles
The choice of Ceará is directly related to the tax incentives offered by the state, extended until 2032, which reduce production costs and increase the competitiveness of the operation against Chinese automakers.
The plant, which produced the off-road utility Troller T4 until 2021, has undergone adaptations to accommodate electrified vehicles and will have an initial capacity to assemble between 30 thousand and 40 thousand units per year.
Spark EUV Arrives with a Robust Equipment Package
The Spark EUV is a compact electric SUV equipped with a front motor of 101 hp and 180 Nm of torque, delivering 255 km of range according to Inmetro.
The model has a rear trunk of 355 liters, reaching 916 liters with the seats folded down, in addition to a front compartment with an additional 35 liters.
Inside, the vehicle features an 8.8-inch digital panel and a 10.1-inch multimedia system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
There are also 28 storage compartments distributed throughout the cabin, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, collision warning, automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, and four-wheel disc brakes.
The air conditioning offers pre-programmed modes, including defogging and odor elimination, while the Smart Welcome system activates screens and lighting when the driver approaches with the smart key.
Strategy Aims for New Models and Fights Chinese Competition
GM chose to assemble the Spark EUV in partnership with Comexport, the largest foreign trade company in the country and current owner of the Troller plant.
Although it is not a corporate partnership, Comexport will provide the industrial infrastructure, and GM will handle the operation, initially with a capacity for 12 thousand annual units in SKD and CDK modes.
According to GM, this solution is part of its commitment to boosting electrification in Brazil and is aligned with global decarbonization goals.
In addition to the Spark EUV, the company is already considering launching other electric models at the same facility in the coming years, as part of a strategy to curb the advancement of Chinese automakers in the national market and consolidate its presence in the local production of electrified vehicles.
