The future of computers may change sooner than expected: Amazon bets on commercial quantum computing within seven years, while qubits, the Ocelot chip, AI, and scientific simulations take center stage in the new race among big techs.
“We believe that supporting these initiatives helps inclusion, teamwork, discipline, and concentration. All of this contributes to the transformation and development of socially vulnerable children and young people. Thus, we contribute to the creation of ethical and behavioral values for the individual, social, and cognitive growth of these students,” highlights Marco Aurélio Fonseca, Sustainability Director of Ocyan.
For 12 years, the company has been carrying out various projects, including: Abrindo Espaços, Brincar em Ação, Mediação de Leitura, Caia na Rede, Mulheres Reciclando (PROMUR), Environmental Education Project, Teacher Training: Interweaving Languages, Technological and Professional Education Center (CETEP), Municipal Dance School, Library Bus, Young in Action – professional qualification, Sports in Action, #Inovareaprender.
“Currently, we have two projects, Ocyan’s partnership with the NGO Junior Achievement RJ, for corporate volunteering in public schools, and the Instituto Acesso, for jiu-jitsu in Macaé, the most recent one,” explains Jocelina Valle, specialist in Social Responsibility at Ocyan.
Legacy
One of the major projects was #Inovareaprender, whose concept of technological education with a proposal for pedagogical innovation allowed participants to use technology to solve problems in an innovative and playful way.
The donation of a 3D printer and a laser cutter to the Project’s Management and Research Center, in the space of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) – Macaé Campus, enabled students to advance in new solutions. The #Inovareaprender had the support of Ocyan from 2014 to 2018.
“What we hope and propose in all actions of ‘Escola em Ação’ is to maintain a relationship between school, community, and company, support youth entrepreneurship, and raise intellectual capital in the region,” emphasizes Jocelina. Our expectation is also to promote better opportunities and living conditions for children and young people from surrounding communities and to build sustainable citizenship, uniting aspects of Social Responsibility and Sustainability,” she concludes.
