The Brazilian state oil company Petrobras has begun negotiations with the supplier SBM Offshore to lease a floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) for the giant Búzios field in the Santos Basin, offshore Brazil, the state-owned company said in a statement this Tuesday (15).

The production storage and offloading unit (FPSO), which will be named Almirante Tamandaré, will be the sixth FPSO in Búzios and the largest in Brazil, according to Petrobras. The platform will have a production capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil and 12 million m3 of gas per day and will start production in the second half of 2024.
