Start of Operations in Espírito Santo Strengthens 3R Petroleum’s Presence in the Natural Gas Market
3R Petroleum has just consolidated an important step in expanding its operations in the natural gas sector. Its latest agreement with ES Gás marks the company’s entry into the free gas market in Espírito Santo, using the Peroá Hub as an Operating Base.
First Agreement in Espírito Santo Boosts Local Supply
This partnership with ES Gás, the first customer of 3R Petroleum in Espírito Santo, ensures the supply of the local market with 400,000 m³/day of natural gas until December 2025. This will come from the Peroá Field in the Espírito Santo Basin, an area previously dedicated exclusively to marketing for Petrobras.
Before this agreement, the entire production of the Peroá Hub, which reached 561,000 cubic meters of natural gas in June 2023, was allocated to Petrobras at the UTGC.

Rachid Félix, Commercial and Corporate Director of 3R Petroleum, highlighted the importance of the new commercial strategy of the company. “Trading in the free market was one of the opportunities that 3R Petroleum had been observing. The firm contract with ES Gás is the first signed after the agreement with Petrobras in Espírito Santo, which allowed access to processing infrastructure, enabling entry into the free market of gas produced at the Peroá Hub,” he stated.
June Agreement with Petrobras Reinforces Expansion Strategy
Félix was referring to the agreement recently signed between 3R Petroleum and Petrobras for the processing of gas at the Cacimbas Natural Gas Treatment Unit – UTGC, located in Linhares, Espírito Santo. The volume of gas produced in Peroá in May 2023 reached 650,000 m³/day.
In addition to the agreement with ES Gás, 3R Petroleum already has a natural gas marketing contract in Bahia with Bahiagás, signed in May last year. This contract refers to the production from the Recôncavo and Rio Ventura hubs, in the Recôncavo Cluster.
