Lecar Claims to Have Over 5,000 People Interested in Its Vehicles and Has Opened a Showroom in São Caetano, but Delivery Depends on the Industrial Shift Expected for 2026.

Lecar is a Brazilian automaker focused on flex hybrids with electric traction, led by Flávio Figueiredo Assis and with an industrial plan anchored in Sooretama, Espírito Santo, where the company announces a factory opening forecast in August 2026.

The announced portfolio includes the coupe Lecar 459, the pickup Campo, and the Tactical SUV, all with a flex engine functioning as a power generator for batteries, promising autonomy of up to 1,000 km and reference prices already disclosed to the public.

Even before putting cars on the streets, the company opened the first dealership in São Caetano do Sul (SP) to display prototypes and structure the commercial phase. The strategy includes a compact showroom format, while the industrial phase is being prepared for the 2026 shift.

Alongside the Espírito Santo project, Lecar expressed interest in the decommissioned plant of CAOA Chery in Jacareí (SP), inactive since 2022, according to UOL. The discussion involves the future of a relevant industrial asset in the Vale do Paraíba, with the company arguing that a second base could accelerate scale and jobs when production begins.

Behind the appeal of a “national car,” the brand asserts that there are already over 5,000 interested customers in line, a number publicly mentioned by the founder and highlighted in recent media coverage about the business model.

How Lecar’s “Pre-Sale” Works

The dynamics of “pre-sale” is simple in concept and delicate in execution; the customer pays a fee of R$ 9,000 to enter the waiting list, secures commercial conditions, and, close to the start of production, pays the remaining amount. The reference to the fee is included in the terms and conditions on the official website, which also addresses timelines and steps in the process. It is essential to read the full contract before any payment.

In addition to the queue, the brand offers scheduled purchase, a modality in which the consumer pays in installments and receives the car at a defined stage of the plan. The proposal aims to facilitate access and organize the cash flow of the project, but requires transparency regarding delivery deadlines, return criteria, and penalties to preserve buyer trust.

As the factory is still being set up, the pre-sale serves as a future commitment. Here, it is important to distinguish what is fact from what is promise; there is an official website, an inaugurated dealership, and a disclosed timeline, while production in 2026 and the potential expansion to Jacareí depend on permits, investments, and third-party decisions. This boundary between announcement and execution is the point the consumer needs to closely monitor.

What Are Your Rights If the Schedule Is Delayed or the Offer Is Not Fulfilled

The Consumer Protection Code protects those who purchase in pre-sale. Under Article 35, if the offer is not fulfilled, the customer can demand fulfillment, accept an equivalent product, or cancel with a full refund and adjustment of values. This is the central legal support in case of unjustified delay or significant change in the offer.

If the contract is online or outside the establishment, Article 49 guarantees the right of regret within 7 days from signing or receiving. It is advisable to keep emails, receipts, and screenshots from the reservation to document any requests. Companies must facilitate the exercise of this right, according to guidelines from the Ministry of Justice.

In case of conflict, there are official channels such as state Procons and the platform Consumidor.gov.br, where the company is prompted to respond within a defined timeframe and the history is recorded. The administrative route usually resolves most disputes and also serves as a basis for any legal action.

Quick Checklist Before Paying the R$ 9,000 Deposit

According to Lecar itself, before transferring any amount, it is important to confirm in writing the estimated production and delivery time, refund policy, criteria for cancellation penalties, responsible for after-sales, and conditions in case of project changes. If anything is unclear, do not finalize the subscription and request contractual adjustments.

Check if the contract distinguishes schedule promises from firm commitments, and whether there are mechanisms for full refund if production does not begin on the disclosed date. In distance contracts, consider Article 49; in case of delay or noncompliance, rely on Article 35 to negotiate or cancel with restitution.

Finally, keep an eye on the fronts that may affect the timeline: construction and operational licenses for the factory, installation of supplier networks, and possible decisions regarding Jacareí. Transparent information and organized documentation are the best allies for those who wish to participate in the queue securely.
