Brazilians Still Have R$ 9.7 Billion Forgotten — See How to Recover Your Forgotten Money
The Central Bank (BC) revealed this Tuesday (11) that Brazilians still have R$ 9.7 billion in forgotten money in financial institutions across the country.
The new update of the Values to Recover (SVR) system indicates that 48.6 million individuals and companies have not yet made the withdrawal of these amounts. The amount shows a slight decrease of 6.7% compared to October, when the total was R$ 10.7 billion.
The survey reinforces an alarming point: millions of Brazilians are failing to recover money that is rightfully theirs, often due to lack of knowledge of the system. Most of this amount is stuck in banks, consortiums, and cooperatives, waiting for the account holders to act.

The Economist says that Brazil has a secret weapon in the oil war during this crisis: ethanol, biodiesel, and flex-fuel vehicles. With Petrobras holding costs, fuel prices are rising 10% to 20% here, compared to 30% to 40% in the USA.
Where Is the Forgotten Money of Brazilians
According to the BC, of the R$ 9.7 billion available, about R$ 7.6 billion belongs to individuals, while R$ 2.12 billion is in the name of companies. The distribution is as follows: R$ 6 billion in banks, R$ 2.3 billion in consortium administrators, and the remainder spread across cooperatives, financial institutions, brokerage firms, and payment institutions.
Despite the significant amount, most beneficiaries have small amounts to receive. The report shows that 39.7 million people have up to R$ 10 available, which represents 64% of the cases. In contrast, only 1 million Brazilians have amounts over R$ 1 thousand, just under 2% of the total.
Forgotten Money: Redemptions Have Already Reached R$ 12.2 Billion
Since the launch of the program, the Central Bank has already returned R$ 12.2 billion to citizens and companies that withdrew through the system. Of this total, R$ 9 billion was paid to 30 million individuals, while 3 million companies received R$ 3.2 billion.
These numbers show that, although the system has worked well for millions of Brazilians, there is still a huge volume of resources waiting for requests. Thus, those who have not yet checked their CPF or CNPJ on the BC website may be leaving money on the table — literally.
How to Check and Make a Redemption of the Forgotten Money
The process to redeem the forgotten money is simple and completely online. The Central Bank has created an intuitive system to facilitate access and ensure the security of information. Here’s the step-by-step:
1️⃣ Access the official Central Bank website and search using CPF and date of birth, or CNPJ and date of establishment of the company.
2️⃣ Enter the Values to Recover system with your gov.br account of silver or gold level.
3️⃣ Read and accept the terms of acknowledgment, which explain the conditions for redemption.
4️⃣ Check the available amount, the name of the institution that must return the money, and the source of the credit.
5️⃣ Request the redemption by providing a Pix key and keep the protocol number. The amount should be credited to the account within 12 business days.
The Central Bank emphasizes that the service is free and secure, and that no institution contacts you by phone, email, or social media to mediate the process.
Heated Economy: Impact of Redemptions on the Lives of Brazilians
The recovery of these R$ 9.7 billion forgotten can represent an important financial relief in times of economic uncertainty. For the Central Bank, stimulating the redemption of these amounts is a way to inject money into the real economy, benefiting millions of families and small businesses.
In addition, the return of resources helps to stimulate trade, as many beneficiaries use the money to pay off debts, invest, or make purchases. Therefore, the forgotten money is not just an individual gain — it also has a direct impact on the growth of the Brazilian economy.
Why So Many Brazilians Have Not Made the Redemption Yet
Even with promotional campaigns, many Brazilians are still unaware of the Values to Recover system or believe that the process is bureaucratic. However, the BC assures that the verification takes less than a minute and can be done by anyone with internet access.
Another factor is that most amounts are small, which leads many to believe that it is not worth accessing the system. However, experts argue that any forgotten amount should be redeemed, as it belongs to the citizen and can make a difference in the budget.
