With Factory in Três Corações, Agronorte ADM Expands Operations in Animal Nutrition and Pet Food after Cade Approval.

The Agronorte ADM has just made a significant strategic move for the Brazilian agribusiness.

The company confirmed the acquisition of ADM’s feed factory in Três Corações, in the South of Minas Gerais, an operation that is pending only the Cade approval to be formalized.

The deal, announced in early 2026, marks the entry of the Tocantins-based company into the Southeast and strengthens its operations in animal nutrition and pet food, segments that generate billions of reais in the country.

The negotiation involves the industrial plant that had been inactive since October 2025, when the American multinational ceased local operations.

Since then, the unit had been seeking a buyer.

Now, with the confirmation of the transaction, Agronorte plans to present a market action plan for the resumption and operation of the factory, although there are still no official dates for this process.

Agronorte ADM Bets on Três Corações as a Strategic Hub

The acquisition of the unit in Três Corações repositioned Agronorte on the Brazilian industrial map.

Until now, the company had established presence mainly in the North and the Midwest.

Thus, the new asset expands logistical capillarity and brings the company closer to key consumer and production hubs in the Southeast.

In an official statement, the company explained that the plant will integrate the group’s industrial portfolio.

“The acquisition aims to strengthen operations in the grain processing and animal nutrition segments,” highlighted the company, maintaining the original quote.

Therefore, the strategy goes beyond geographical expansion and targets efficiency gains throughout the production chain.

Animal Nutrition and Pet Food Gain Industrial Scale

The acquired factory has an estimated annual capacity of around 525 thousand tons of products intended for animal nutrition and the pet food market.

Until last year, the unit was valued at over R$ 1 billion and ranked among the largest in Latin America in the segment, reinforcing the asset’s relevance to Agronorte.

Furthermore, the pet food market has been experiencing consistent growth in Brazil, driven by an increase in the pet population and greater demand for industrialized and higher value-added foods.

In this context, Agronorte ADM will now compete for space in a strategic sector, with potential for generating higher margins and demand stability.

Cade Approval Is the Last Regulatory Step

Thus, despite the announcement, the formal conclusion of the operation depends on the Cade approval, the body responsible for assessing competitive impacts.

According to the company, after the approval from the Administrative Council for Economic Defense, a detailed plan for the operation of the new unit in Minas Gerais will be released.

Meanwhile, market sources indicate that the former controller faced profitability challenges in the months leading up to the plant’s closure.

Pressured results may have contributed to the decision to cease local activities, opening space for negotiations with Agronorte.

Local Economic Impact and Recovery Expectations

The factory closure in 2025 had a strong impact on the economy of Três Corações.

Almost a thousand direct workers were laid off in a single day, along with various indirect jobs affected.

The episode generated regional repercussions and heightened expectations for a possible resumption of industrial activities.

In this sense, Agronorte ADM’s arrival is seen as a positive signal.

On social media, residents celebrated the announcement and highlighted the possibility of new job opportunities.

“What joy for the city.

More job opportunities for residents of the region who lost their jobs with ADM’s closure,” commented a follower, maintaining the original quote.

Entry into Southeast Consolidates Growth Strategy

Headquartered in Tocantins, Agronorte is an agribusiness conglomerate that operates in grain origination and processing, animal nutrition, and logistics.

The company serves both the domestic and international markets and has been expanding its industrial presence through investments and strategic acquisitions.

Therefore, the purchase of the factory in Três Corações symbolizes more than a territorial expansion.

It represents the consolidation of a national strategy focused on large-scale industrial assets and high value-added markets, such as pet food.

Thus, the expectation now focuses on the Cade approval and the next steps that will define the future of the Minas Gerais unit and its role within Agronorte ADM.
