The aircraft marks the beginning of the airline’s transition, gradually replacing the Q400 turboprops with more modern models.

The change involves Luxair itself, which officially placed a firm order for six jets and secured options for three additional units, reinforcing the company’s commercial and operational strategy.

Back to Embraer, Luxair signals a new era with its first E195-E2 because the model represents a technological leap over the De Havilland Q400 turboprops.

The delivered aircraft, registered under the tail number LX-LRA, is part of the new generation of regional jets from Embraer, known for its combination of performance and efficiency.

Therefore, Luxair sees the E195-E2 as a strategic ally for short- and medium-haul routes, especially in competitive markets.

According to the company, the arrival of this first unit formally begins the broader renewal of its regional fleet. In a statement, Luxair celebrated the moment:

This statement reinforces that the company views the acquisition as a fundamental move amid a transforming global landscape.

The choice of the E195-E2 also aligns the company with environmental goals set throughout the European Union.

Back to Embraer, Luxair signals a new era with its first E195-E2 not just because of the model acquired.

The company previously operated the EMB-120 Brasília turboprop in the 1990s and used the 50-seat ERJ-145 jets until 2016.

This return represents, therefore, not just a technical choice, but also a reestablishment of a partnership that has demonstrated operational solidity over the years.

Planned Expansion and Prospects for the Fleet

The commitment to six aircraft, along with options for three more, indicates that the company plans to gradually expand its capacity.

Thus, the introduction of the E195-E2 will allow Luxair to revise networks, increase frequencies, and even open new routes.

Additionally, the arrival of the first jet strengthens Embraer’s presence in the European market.
