Attention, Drivers! New Radars Have Begun to Operate on Highways in São Paulo. Get Ready to Avoid Heavy Fines and Ensure a Safe Journey! Enforcement Will Be Strict and Speed Will Be Monitored Closely. Know the Places and the Rules to Avoid Being Surprised by This New Measure.

Next Wednesday (5), drivers traveling on highways in the interior of São Paulo will need to be extra vigilant.

This is because a series of new radars will be activated on São Paulo roads.

The increase in enforcement, although aimed at improving road safety, may result in fines for those who are not attentive to the new signage.

These new radars, distributed along three important highways in the region, are a response to a constant concern about speeding, which still represents one of the main causes of serious accidents on the roads.

According to Arteris ViaPaulista, the company responsible for operating these highways, the installation of the devices aims to reduce the number of incidents involving drivers exceeding the allowed speed limits.

The decision to activate the new radars was published in the Official State Gazette of São Paulo on January 29, and the process of approval and calibration of the equipment was supervised by the São Paulo Department of Highways (DER-SP) and by the Institute of Weights and Measures of the State of São Paulo (Ipem-SP).

With the authorization in hand, drivers will need to quickly adapt to the new rules and avoid unpleasant surprises.

Where Are the New Radars?

The São Paulo government and the Arteris concessionaire have released the exact locations where the new radars will be installed.

The selected highways for the operation of the new equipment are the Antônio Machado Sant’Anna Highway (SP-255), the Anhanguera Highway (SP-330), and the José Fregonezi Highway (SP-328), all in the interior of the state. Check the detailed locations:

Antônio Machado Sant’Anna Highway (SP-255)

  • Kilometer 77+500, North lane, in Araraquara – Maximum speed limit: 100 km/h for light vehicles and 80 km/h for heavy vehicles.
  • Kilometer 78+950, South lane, in Araraquara – Maximum speed limit: 100 km/h for light vehicles and 80 km/h for heavy vehicles.

Anhanguera Highway (SP-330)

  • Kilometer 301+250, North lane, in Cravinhos – Maximum speed limit: 90 km/h.
  • Kilometer 244+900, South lane, in Santa Rita do Passa Quatro – Maximum speed limit: 110 km/h for light vehicles and 90 km/h for heavy vehicles.

José Fregonezi Highway (SP-328)

  • Kilometer 310+700, South lane, between Ribeirão Preto and Bonfim Paulista – Maximum speed limit: 100 km/h for light vehicles and 90 km/h for heavy vehicles.

The Intensification of Enforcement on the Roads

The installation of these radars is a reinforcing measure for speed control, one of the biggest challenges in road safety.

According to data from Arteris ViaPaulista, the increase in enforcement is a response to accidents that frequently involve drivers who do not respect speed limits.

However, drivers need to understand that these devices are not just there to issue fines, but to save lives, as a simple miscalculation or distraction while driving can have serious consequences.

Additionally, it is important for drivers to understand that the implementation of these new monitoring technologies is a way to prevent tragedies from happening on such busy roads.

With the numbers of accidents and deaths due to speeding still high, the expectation is that, with more radars, drivers will feel more motivated to reduce speed in critical sections, helping to save lives.

Why the New Radars Are Necessary?

Studies indicate that speeding is directly related to the increase in the number of serious collisions.

In recent years, several fatal accidents on São Paulo highways have occurred due to non-compliance with speed limits.

The installation of electronic radars aims to combat this problem, forcing drivers to comply with the regulations and ensuring that traffic on the roads remains safe.

The Anhanguera Highway, for example, is one of the busiest and has already registered various high-severity incidents involving drivers who disrespected established limits.

The placement of radars in strategic locations on these highways, where the risk of accidents is higher, seeks to minimize these tragedies.

The highway is also known for being one of the main access routes between the state capital and the interior, which contributes to the high traffic and accident rates.

The Technology Behind the Radars

The new radars are equipped with cutting-edge technology and have the capacity to accurately measure vehicle speed, as well as capture images of offenders.

The devices have been carefully calibrated and approved by competent agencies, such as Ipem-SP, which ensures the reliability of the measurements.

It is important to note that drivers caught exceeding the speed limit will be subject to fines, which can be substantial depending on the severity of the violation.

In addition to reducing accidents, the radars also aim to improve traffic flow, as the presence of the devices causes drivers to adjust their speed and drive more cautiously.

Fines and Penalties for Offenders

It is important for drivers to be aware that, by exceeding speed limits, they will be subject to penalties provided for in the Brazilian Traffic Code.

Fines for speeding can vary according to the severity of the violation, with amounts that can reach up to R$ 880.41 for more severe offenses.

Additionally, the driver may be penalized with points on their driver’s license, which can lead to even more serious consequences, such as license suspension in the case of recurrence.

Therefore, the recommendation is that drivers strictly respect the speed limits, especially in areas where the new radars will be operational.

How to Avoid Surprises and Ensure a Safe Journey

In addition to respecting speed limits, it is essential for drivers to always be attentive to highway signage.

In many cases, the installation of radars is preceded by warning signs so that the driver can prepare for enforcement.

Arteris ViaPaulista also recommends that drivers plan their trips in advance, check road conditions, and not rush, especially in sections where traffic is heavier.

Responsibility Is Everyone’s

Therefore, the installation of new radars is not just a matter of enforcement, but a measure for accident prevention.

Drivers need to be vigilant, comply with the regulations, and, above all, drive responsibly. After all, road safety depends on everyone.

And you, what do you think about the increase of radars on the roads? Is this measure enough to reduce accidents? Leave your comment below!
