Aircraft Delivered From Sweden Is Set to Land in Navegantes on June 12 After Crossing the Atlantic
The Dutch-flagged FAGELGRACHT, which is transporting the latest F-39 Gripen fighter jet from the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), is already navigating close to the Brazilian coast. This information was confirmed on June 7, 2025, by local sources in the port sector.
This freighter departed two weeks ago from the Port of Norrköping in Sweden. The official forecast is that it will dock at the port of Navegantes on the morning of the upcoming Thursday, June 12.
The process follows the same logistical pattern adopted for the other nine fighter jets already received by the FAB. Since the beginning of the acquisition project, maritime transportation has been the most efficient and secure alternative for transporting these sophisticated combat aircraft.

Manufactured in Brazil and exported to Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, the ASTROS system is renamed as Fogos in 2026, gaining AI, cruise missiles with a range of 300 km, and air defense costing R$ 3.4 billion, transforming a launcher from the 1980s into the most ambitious multidomain platform in Latin America.

The largest military aircraft ever produced in Brazil, the KC-390 Millennium can carry up to 26 tons, refuel fighter jets in flight, and has already been exported to Europe and Asia, placing the country in the select group that designs and sells large military aircraft worldwide.

FAB loses Hermes 900 drone during multinational exercise in Mato Grosso do Sul and is left with only one active aircraft, raising concerns about operational fragility and strategic response capability.
Transport to the Airport Will Be Done by Road
As in previous operations, the new fighter will be towed through the streets of the city to the Navegantes Airport.
The ground operation is already in the final planning phase, according to a meeting held in May 2025 between local authorities and representatives of the FAB.
The city’s mayor, alongside military technicians, established the logistical protocols to ensure safety and fluidity during the urban route.
This ground transportation method, although delicate, has proven effective and has been replicated since the arrival of the first F-39 in Brazil.
After transport, the aircraft undergoes inspections and technical adjustments before being authorized for its first flight in national territory.
This cycle, therefore, allows the FAB to maintain operational efficiency, even with the complexities of a binational program like the Gripen.
FAB Receives the Tenth Gripen; New Model Is Registered FAB4110
So far, Brazil operates nine units of the Gripen E, a single-seat model designated F-39E by the FAB.
Embraer and the Swedish manufacturer Saab operate in partnership one of these fighter jets, dedicated exclusively to testing.
The new aircraft arriving this month will be the tenth in the fleet in the country and the ninth effectively incorporated into the active line of the Air Force. Surprisingly, the released videos show that the Brazilian Air Force is transporting the model identified as FAB4110.
Many expected the new unit to be registered as FAB4109, following the numbering of FAB4108.
This suggests that FAB4109 is being finalized on Brazilian soil, reinforcing the nationalization phase of the fighters’ production. This stage is provided for in the bilateral agreement signed with Saab in 2014.
Swedish Technology Advances Brazilian Military Aviation
The introduction of the Gripen, therefore, represents an important technological leap for Brazil’s air defense.
With advanced radar systems, as well as state-of-the-art avionics and the capacity to integrate with other means, the F-39E is designed to be the pillar of the country’s fighter aviation for the coming decades.
Furthermore, the partnership with Saab involves not only technology transfer but also training Brazilian professionals at various stages of the process.
Since the delivery of the first unit in December 2021, the Gripen Brazil project has evolved continuously, highlighting its strategic advancement.
Consequently, with each new aircraft incorporated, more national teams gain expertise in handling, maintenance, and, eventually, local production of the model.
Thus, the arrival of FAB4110 reinforces this training cycle and, at the same time, underscores the commitment to the country’s technological sovereignty.
Strategic Coordination Ensures Logistics and Operational Success
Throughout all phases of this program, the FAB has maintained, therefore, close coordination with municipal authorities, regulatory bodies, and private partners.
This coordinated effort, consequently, is essential to ensure not only the safety of aircraft transport but also the effective integration of the new fighters into operational service.
Furthermore, the presence of the FAGELGRACHT and, similarly, the logistical handling to Navegantes demonstrate the continuity of an already consolidated methodology.
With the arrival of FAB4110 expected on June 12, Brazil is thus approaching a new phase of the project.
On the other hand, expectations about the fighters that the country will produce directly are also rising.
This advance, therefore, represents more than a simple acquisition: it positions Brazil, above all, as a regional protagonist in defense technology.
