Army personnel pave an important highway (BR), creating a vital connection between Bahia and Minas Gerais and improving their operational capabilities. A mega engineering operation ensures national security and mobility, taking road infrastructure to a new level.

When talking about infrastructure works in Brazil, it is rare to imagine that the armed forces are involved, even more so in strategic highway projects for the country.

However, an important mission is underway on BR-367, a key route connecting southern Bahia to northern Minas Gerais.

Led by the 2nd Construction Engineering Battalion (2nd BEC) of the Brazilian Army, this paving and infrastructure implementation project not only transforms regional mobility but also represents an example of military preparation and training, essential to maintain the readiness of the land force in Brazil..

The work, carried out in partnership with the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT), has a cutting-edge military and technological force to ensure the quality and durability of the highway.

In the municipality of Jacinto, in Minas Gerais, around 150 military personnel and more than 120 engineering equipment are in action to carry out essential tasks of earthmoving, soil compaction, launching of manholes and, finally, the asphalt paving of BR-367, a project that promises to facilitate transportation and foster economic development between the states of Bahia and Minas Gerais.

The Brazilian Army's mission in this operation goes beyond the simple act of paving a highway; it is a strategic exercise that allows for the continuous improvement of the military's operational and technical skills, something that directly benefits national security..

The process and the military operation

With robust machinery, specialized materials and detailed planning, the Brazilian Army has been taking meticulous steps to ensure a lasting and safe road structure.

The work begins with laboratory tests, in which the region's soils are analyzed to ensure the best material for paving is chosen.

In addition, the team builds a specific yard for the asphalt plant, facilitating the transportation and application of the material along the stretch of highway.

As reported by the project engineers, This initial stage is essential to avoid future problems and ensure that the road can support the weight of the vehicles that will travel on it daily..

Then, earthmoving takes place, where the ground is leveled and prepared to receive the asphalt.

This phase requires precision, as any error can compromise the durability of the asphalt.

Next comes soil compaction, which ensures that the base is firm enough to receive the layers of asphalt, increasing the resistance of the highway against daily wear and tear.

Technical inspection and construction safety

To ensure quality at each stage, the Army carries out regular technical inspections at the construction site, including visits by senior officers responsible for the project..

Recently, Army General Anísio David de Oliveira Júnior, head of the Engineering and Construction Department (DEC), was on site for a detailed inspection.

Accompanied by a delegation, the general not only inspected the progress of the works, but also gave strategic guidance, ensuring that the project complies with the strict DNIT standards and the Army's safety requirements..

This type of operation involves several aspects, from the handling of heavy materials to compliance with environmental standards, all closely supervised to ensure that the work meets both quality and environmental responsibility standards.

According to Army sources, this is an opportunity to develop the troops' operational capabilities in real working conditions, strengthening the mobility and rapid response capacity of the armed forces.

Highway: benefits for society and military training

The Army's role in paving BR-367 goes far beyond engineering; it represents a crucial opportunity for the ongoing training of troops.

Each paving operation offers military personnel a chance to hone their skills in areas such as mobility and protection, competencies that are essential in defense and logistics support operations.

Military presence in civil works may seem atypical, but it is a practice adopted in several countries as a way of maintaining the operational readiness of the armed forces.

The development of these capabilities also strengthens national security, as the military is always ready to act in emergency situations or to support large-scale operations in any region of the country.

As experts point out, These experiences in construction engineering strengthen the Army's performance in different scenarios, ensuring that the Land Force is capable of supporting the Brazilian population on several fronts, whether logistics, defense or disaster relief..

A new phase for infrastructure in Brazil

The paving work on BR-367 highlights the importance of military engineering for Brazilian infrastructure.

Each paved kilometer represents an advance in connectivity between regions and promotes economic development by facilitating the transportation of goods.

For the local population, the completion of the work will bring security and agility, benefiting both trade and tourism between Bahia and Minas Gerais.

And for the Army, it is an opportunity to demonstrate the technical capacity of its troops, showing the country that the armed forces are prepared to act on multiple fronts, always for the benefit of the nation.

This initiative highlights the role of the armed forces in promoting quality infrastructure, which reinforces the idea that the Brazilian Army is not just a defense institution, but also an active agent in national development..

And a sergeant, earning less than a PM SD. SD earning less than a street sweeper and veterans abandoned due to Law 13.954/19. Only the ****jump of the Armed Forces did well!. But they needed to build bridges, calamities

In my opinion, this is not a job for an armed force to do.
The army should have investment to prepare itself to protect the nation and not just do contractor services.
This is a shame.

In an emergency, perhaps the army could participate, but I don't know, it's all a bit strange!!! In fact, what hasn't been strange in this country for many, many years!!!

Apparently, this is all the army has known how to do in recent decades: paint curbs and pavement.
