Lecar Announces Large-Scale Production of Hybrid Vehicles in Brazil, But Suppliers Listed by the Company Deny Signed Contracts, While Reservations Are Already Accepted Online for Models Not Yet Manufactured.

The Lecar, a company founded by Flávio Figueiredo Assis, has begun to announce that it will produce 120,000 cars per year, even though it does not yet have an operating factory.

The majority of suppliers listed on the brand’s own website deny having a signed partnership.

Meanwhile, the company is accepting online reservations for two models, the sedan 459 and the Campo pickup, both with a suggested price of R$ 159,300 and the possibility of payment in 72 installments of R$ 2,215.50, according to a report published this Wednesday (10) by Auto Papo.

The company also announces the development of a third product, the Tactical SUV.

So far, according to investigations by Auto Papo, the presentations are limited to renders, models, and exhibition pieces, with no confirmation of finished units ready for testing or approval.

The automaker states that it is preparing a factory in Espírito Santo to produce electric and hybrid cars with autonomy of up to 1,000 km.

Promise of a National Parts Network

In addition to commercial conditions, the brand claims on its website that it already has suppliers and replacement stock.

In an institutional text, it states: “With a firm commitment to excellence and the nationalization of its production chain, the company has already ensured the availability of replacement parts throughout the national territory, anticipating the start of manufacturing its hybrid models.”

This statement, however, contrasts with the responses obtained by journalists who checked each of the cited companies.

As the phrase attributed to Garrincha became popular, “there was a need to coordinate with the Russians!

Suppliers Deny Partnership with Lecar

Among the names listed by Lecar is Pirelli.

When asked, the Italian manufacturer stated that it does not have contracts with the Brazilian brand.

A similar situation was reported by Marcopolo, which officially stated: “Marcopolo informed that it is unaware of any type of relationship with Lecar. There is nothing that relates the company to Lecar in the records, whether it be registration as a supplier, partnership contract, or confidentiality agreement.”

The Randoncorp group was also associated by Lecar with its supply chain.

The company, however, declared in a statement that it has no commercial, contractual, or institutional relationship with the startup.

It also stated that its brands Suspensys, Fras-le, and Nakata do not maintain any connection with Assis’s company.

According to Randoncorp, Fras-le and Nakata items are open lines to consumers and can be purchased at retail, which does not constitute a partnership.

The company concluded: “Randoncorp operates in an ethical and transparent manner, being recognized as one of the market leaders in Brazil and abroad, with a presence in more than a hundred countries and a wide global sales and service network.”

Preliminary Talks Without a Contract

Apolo Tecnologia, a polymer company of the Marcopolo group, acknowledged having maintained technical discussions about the possibility of using DCPD in bumpers.

It also reported that it provided material samples for exhibitions and launches.

However, it pointed out: “We do not have a signed contract with Lecar.”

The company said it hopes that if the vehicles are launched, it may supply the parts, making it clear that there is no existing agreement.

Horse Motors Are the Only Confirmation

Among those cited, the only confirmation of supply came from Horse, a manufacturer of engines resulting from the Renault-Nissan alliance with Geely.

The company issued a statement highlighting the supply of 12,000 engines to Lecar.

However, no details were provided regarding the timeline, technical specifications of the engines, or any delivery phases.

Auto Papo emphasized that Assis’s promise is to set up a plant with the capacity for 120,000 cars per year, a number ten times higher than the volume of engines mentioned by Horse.

Factory and Dealership Network Without Definition

According to the specialized portal, Assis has presented the projection of a dealership network based on the future industrial installation.

The unit still does not have a disclosed location or start date for operation.

In parallel, Lecar’s page continues to list names of companies as “partners,” although many of them have publicly disavowed the association.

In practical terms, the relationships described by the market so far range from simple preliminary contacts to occasional purchases of off-the-shelf items, without dedicated supply contracts.

Reports About Meetings with the Entrepreneur

Representatives of the mentioned companies reported brief interactions with the founder of Lecar.

A spokesperson, under anonymity, described a meeting of less than 15 minutes to discuss the Campo pickup and said that Assis “didn’t even say good afternoon and already wanted to record videos, which didn’t happen.”

Another executive from a listed company stated that the discussions are at an embryonic stage, without any signed commitments, ongoing projects, or exclusivity.

According to him, the priority is to maintain the credibility of the brand until there are minimal guarantees to move forward.

Promises Versus Reality in the Market

On one hand, Lecar promotes hybrid models with price and installment plans “unlimited,” announces the nationalization of the supply chain, and speaks of parts availability across the country.

On the other hand, global suppliers deny contracts, and engineering companies describe the relationship as nascent.

The only concrete signal came from Horse, with the figure of 12,000 engines, a magnitude that does not currently align with the annual production proclaimed by the company.

Consumer Facing Uncertainty

For the interested buyer, the divergence between advertising promises and supplier denials highlights the importance of checking the origin of components, the existence of approvals, and the real stage of the industrial project before any reservation payment.

While the venture seeks to consolidate partnerships, objective doubts about location, timeline, scale, and contracts that would support the announced operation persist.

Under these conditions, to what extent can the consumer trust in pre-sales of vehicles from a company that has not yet started its production?
