Launch in the Middle East Comes Amid Falling Sales and Investment in New High-End Markets

Tesla has officially started the delivery of the Cybertruck in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at an event held in Dubai.

This action marks the formal entry of the electric pickup into the Middle Eastern market.

The move comes at a time when sales of the model in the United States, the company’s main market, are retracting.

In that country, registrations have fallen significantly in the comparison between 2024 and 2025, according to automotive sector data.

Surveys by the consulting firm Cox Automotive, cited by specialized press, indicate that the Cybertruck had 20,237 units sold in 2025, down from 38,965 the previous year.

The number represents a decline of 48.1%.

The drop was even more pronounced in the last quarter of the year.

During that period, sales totaled 4,140 vehicles, compared to 12,991 in the same period of 2024.

Launch of the Cybertruck in the United Arab Emirates

During the launch in the UAE, Tesla delivered just over 60 units of the Cybertruck to local customers.

This information was disclosed based on data related to the event.

The Dual Motor AWD version is being sold for around 404,900 dirhams, which is equivalent to approximately US$ 110,000 in direct conversion.

On the other hand, the Cyberbeast configuration, equipped with three motors, is priced around 454,900 dirhams, which corresponds to about US$ 123,000.

The prices in the country stand out for being higher than those observed at various times in the North American market.

Nonetheless, this price level does not represent a significant obstacle in a market where high-value vehicles and exclusive models tend to have constant demand.

Cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi are home to a significant portion of this consumer profile.

Cybertruck Sales and Performance Below Expectations

When presented to the public, the Cybertruck was associated with ambitious production and sales projections.

However, available data for 2024 and 2025 indicate that the model did not achieve the expected volume in the American market.

This is a segment where traditional pickups have been sales leaders for decades.

In the United States, vehicles like Ford F-Series, Chevrolet Silverado, and Ram have historically occupied the top positions in annual rankings.

The Cybertruck was launched with the proposal to compete for this space.

The strategy involved offering an electric alternative with out-of-the-box design, based on a stainless steel body and geometric lines.

Even so, estimates published by specialized outlets indicate that the model remained restricted to a relatively limited volume.

Industry analysts point out that the decline recorded throughout 2025 suggests deceleration of demand.

This movement occurred during a period when other electric vehicles maintained more stable performance across different price segments.

Tesla’s International Expansion and Market Strategy

The arrival in the Middle East is part of a strategy for increasing the Cybertruck’s presence outside the United States.

Reports on the launch highlight that the UAE market serves as an international showcase for visually appealing vehicles.

Nevertheless, it is a market with a smaller scale compared to the major global consumer hubs.

Before the official launch, some units of the Cybertruck were already circulating in the country through independent imports.

The formal sale by Tesla allows for the offering of warranties, technical assistance, and official services.

These factors are considered significant for consumers of this profile.

In the United Arab Emirates, the decision to buy an electric vehicle is not necessarily tied to fuel economy.

The country is one of the world’s largest oil producers.

Additionally, it has historically lower fueling costs.

According to automotive market specialists, in this context, the appeal of the Cybertruck tends to be associated with differentiation, design, and exclusivity.

Debates on Institutional Use and Resistance to the Cybertruck

In the United States, the Cybertruck has also been mentioned in discussions related to potential institutional uses.

In February 2025, a preliminary purchase document from the State Department mentioned the possibility of acquiring vehicles described as “armored.”

The estimated value was around US$ 400 million.

Subsequently, the direct reference to Tesla was removed.

The agency reported that the description had been included incorrectly.

The document did not specify the manufacturer.

Furthermore, reports indicated that companies controlled by Elon Musk, such as SpaceX, started acquiring units of the Cybertruck for internal use.

The information, however, is based on reports published by the press.

There has been no official detailing from Tesla.

The company has not disclosed specific numbers, values, or objectives for these acquisitions.

Limited Impact of the UAE Market on Global Sales

Although entering the UAE contributes to increasing the visibility of the Cybertruck, experts assess that the impact is limited in terms of global volume.

The local market is small compared to the North American one.

It’s in the United States that the primary commercial challenges for the model are concentrated.

Sales data for 2025 indicate that the retraction was already significant before the opening of new international markets.

In this scenario, the presence in the Middle East tends to function as a diversification and image strategy.

There is no indication that the expansion represents an immediate solution to recover the numbers in the U.S.

Nonetheless, the operation allows Tesla to test the reception of the Cybertruck in high-income markets.

The future performance will indicate whether demand can be consistently maintained outside the traditional axis.

It remains to be seen whether this international expansion will be sufficient to sustain the model in the medium term or if it will continue to be limited to a specific audience, primarily interested in exclusivity and design.
