Device Measures Only 0.98 Inches In Height, 0.6 In Length And 0.59 In Width, Has Four Functional Buttons And Runs An Emulated Version Of Space Invaders; Project Started During The Pandemic Was Resumed In 2025 And Ended Up Being Recognized By The Guinness World Records
A 24-year-old electronics enthusiast in India built an arcade machine measuring just 0.98 inches in height that is capable of running the game Space Invaders, a feat that was officially recognized by the Guinness World Records as the smallest functional arcade machine ever created.
Young Indian Creates Microscopic Scale Arcade Machine
The arcade machine was built by Kiran Patil, who claimed to have been interested in electronics since childhood.
Over the years, the hobby led him to develop various projects involving microcontrollers and small displays.

The largest fortress on the planet is located in a city with 10 km star-shaped walls, 300 hectares protected, an aqueduct with 843 arches and 7 km long, strategic forts, and a UNESCO title that intrigues specialists.
According to Patil, although he had previously created several electronic devices, this was his first project focused on arcade games. The initiative marked his debut in attempting to build a functional device inspired by traditional arcade machines.
Minimum Dimensions And Full Functionality Of The Arcade Machine
The arcade machine measures 0.98 inches in height, 0.6 inches in length, and 0.59 inches in width. Despite its small size, the device has four buttons and can run an emulated version of the classic arcade game Space Invaders.
Even at an extremely compact size, the device retains the basic elements of a traditional arcade machine. Players can use the buttons to interact with the game displayed on the small screen integrated into the device.
Arcade Machine Project Began During The Pandemic
The initial idea for the arcade machine emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, Patil built a preliminary prototype, but described the first model as quite rudimentary.
According to him, it was still necessary to better develop the software part of the project. Additionally, commitments to university and work ended up interrupting the progress of the initiative for some time.
Development Resumed In 2025 Led To Worldwide Recognition
The project was resumed in the summer of 2025, when Patil decided to revisit the idea and turn it into a functional device. After finishing the work, the result was presented to the Guinness World Records.
The organization confirmed that the creation is officially the smallest arcade machine in the world.
Before this achievement, Patil had already set a record in April 2019 by building the smallest functional drill in the world, measuring 0.24 inches in height, 0.27 inches in length, and 0.18 inches in width.
