Mercedes-Benz Just Revealed An Electric Van Concept That Brings Several Sustainable Technologies, Such As A Roof That Captures Solar Energy Capable Of Generating 3,800 Km Of Range And A Filter That Purifies The Air While The Vehicle Moves In The Streets
Mercedes Benz recently revealed a vehicle that showcases its plans for future electric delivery vans. It is an electric van that brings many unprecedented innovations in the sector, whether in concepts or production vehicles. The model, called Sustaineer, draws attention for its solar energy panel on the roof, which has 4.8 m² and offers a range of up to 3,000 km.

Mercedes-Benz claims that the solar energy panel can provide the electric van with an additional range of 3,800 km per year in areas with higher solar incidence, although it does not provide an exact example of a region where the number is applicable. Another major highlight being promoted with the electric van is its built-in particle filters, located in the model’s grille, as well as its lower part.
The goal of Mercedes-Benz is to clean the air around the electric van utilizing solar energy while it moves, mainly the emissions caused by the vehicle itself, which despite being fully electric, its brakes and tires still pollute the air, and this is the brand’s solution to the problem.

Electric Van Developed With Recyclable Products
The electric van also features renewable and recycled materials, suggesting that Mercedes-Benz plans to integrate them into its commercial models of the future. The van’s underbody, for example, is made of recycled polypropylene and recycled tire fibers.
The cargo area in the back and the partition between the cabin in front is made of straw that is treated to make it waterproof. The German brand does not plan to place an electric Sprinter like the one presented into production.
The concept of the electric van only shows some suggestions that the brand wishes to add to its future models as it continues with its participation of electric vehicles around the world.
Mercedes Plans To Develop An Electric Bus In Brazil
In August, it was announced that the automaker is investing in electric bus chassis to operate in urban centers in the country. This step is a result of an investment of R$ 100 million from the brand, which is part of a cycle of R$ 2.4 billion for the company in the country between 2018 and 2022.
The prototypes of electric buses are being created by collaborators from the São Bernardo do Campo unit, alongside engineers from Daimler, the parent company in Germany, where prototypes of this type of model are already being tested.
