AET said the tanker was delivered to Petrobras last July 24 and is now on its way to Rio de Janeiro to start operations.

The tanker will join its sister vessel, Eagle Petrolina, and the two DPSTs that Petrobras is currently operating offshore Brazil.

“The four 152.000 DWT vessels were built in accordance with Petrobras technical requirements for DP2 tankers in collaboration with SHI, DNV-GL and Eaglestar and will be in full compliance with IMO NOx Tier 3 and SOx emission requirements,” he said. the AET.

Each vessel is equipped with electrically driven cargo pumps to increase fuel efficiency, high horsepower thrusters and is fully capable of operating in the weather conditions expected for its class.

“AET, along with teams from Eaglestar and Samsung Heavy Industries, have taken extra health and safety precautions given the pandemic situation to ensure safe and successful construction and deliveries,” AET said.

"These second-generation DP2 tankers are a testament to AET's continued commitment to high-quality, eco-responsible operations."

Currently, the AET operates eight DP2 tankers and has a further nine bus ships under construction to be delivered between 2020 and 2022.
