93 m² Storage Closed Since 1990 in Sacramento Revealed 10 Thousand Shoes, 25 Thousand Caps, and 1980s Clothing That Originated a Vintage Sales Digital Business
A cleanup of a 93-square-meter storage unit in Sacramento, in the United States, revealed an untouched stock of vintage clothing from the 1980s, turning a common organization job into a profitable business based on rarity and growing demand.
A Storage Unit Forgotten Since 1990
In 2021, Scottlynn Krause and her mother were hired to empty a storage unit that belonged to Franz, the former owner of a sporting goods store active in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
The space, measuring 93 square meters, had been closed since 1990. Inside was a huge preserved stock of products from the 1980s.

Ports like Santos and Paranaguá are operating at their limits and may block containers as early as 2030, warns a study by Macroinfra; bottlenecks increase costs and delays and push cargo to Rio, Salvador, Pecém, and Suape across Brazil.
Among the items were 10 thousand pairs of shoes, 25 thousand caps, and 2.5 thousand baseball pants, along with pieces from brands like Nike, Adidas, Puma, and Champion.
The Deal That Changed the Stock’s Destiny
Instead of simply discarding the products, Franz’s family proposed a deal. Krause and her mother could keep all the pieces if they completely cleared out the storage unit within 16 days.
Not knowing exactly the value of that material, they accepted the challenge. The initial plan was just to remove the accumulated stock.
The expectation was to finish the cleanup in three months. However, upon reviewing the pieces, Krause realized that the market for vintage clothing could have great commercial potential.
A New Business is Born
With this discovery, CS80 Vintage was born. The business started simply, with sales made at antique fairs in early 2022.
Over time, the operation evolved into a more structured digital model. The official website was launched in December 2025.
The system operates on a controlled scarcity model. Only 25 items are released per drop.
Sales occur twice a week, every Wednesday and Sunday. So far, only one-tenth of the total stock has been made available.
The Cultural Value of Vintage Clothing
The rarity of vintage clothing attracted the attention of collectors and the entertainment industry as well.
According to Krause, a van full of pieces from the collection was used in the filming of a commercial for the Target chain related to the Netflix series Stranger Things.
Among the rarest items found is a complete collection from the group Run-DMC still sealed and a pair of Adidas boxing shoes from the 1980s.
The model resembles those worn by Freddie Mercury and also the style associated with the Rocky film franchise.
Artisanal Operation and Preservation of Legacy
Currently, the operation functions between an external storage unit and a studio where Krause measures, photographs, and catalogs each piece from the stock.
The logistics remain homemade. Mother and daughter print labels and ship orders in the morning or at night to avoid disrupting their main jobs.
For Krause, the project is not just about financial profit. She describes the find as something comparable to winning the lottery.
The goal now is to preserve Franz’s legacy and use the historical stock as a basis for new products inspired by the aesthetics and quality of vintage clothing from the 1980s.
