Nestlé transforms its factory in Brazil into the largest producer of KitKat in the world. With R$1,1 billion invested and 500 jobs expected by 2026, the expansion brings cutting-edge technology and a focus on sustainability, consolidating Brazil as one of the largest global chocolate production hubs.

Nestlé has just taken a bold step in its expansion plan in Brazil. In September 2024, the Swiss company inaugurated the fourth KitKat production line at its plant located in Caçapava, in the interior of São Paulo.

With this, the unit becomes the largest KitKat factory in the world, surpassing the traditional factory in England, where the famous chocolate was created 89 years ago.

But the impact goes far beyond chocolate bars. Behind this expansion, there is a massive investment of R$8,5 billion which is transforming Nestlé's industrial landscape in Brazil, focusing not only on increasing production, but also on technology, sustainability and innovation.

A factory that leads the future of chocolates

With the addition of this new production line, the Caçapava factory now holds the title of largest KitKat producer in the world, with the capacity to manufacture 150 thousand units per hour.

This impressive number not only meets domestic demand, but also supplies other 18 countries, consolidating Brazil as one of Nestlé's main global production centers.

Furthermore, the factory must achieve the status of Nestlé's largest chocolate unit in the world by 2026, surpassing the Vila Velha plant, which currently leads this ranking.

Billion-dollar investments and jobs for Brazil

The inauguration of this new production line is part of a larger project, which involves a total investment of $ 8,5 billion until 2026. Of this amount, R $ 1,1 billion It is exclusively intended for the modernization and expansion of the Caçapava unit.

And the impact doesn't stop there: in addition to transforming the factory, the expansion is also generating 500 new jobs direct and indirect until 2026, being that 150 vacancies have already been filled.

These opportunities not only respond to increased production, but are also part of a technological innovation plan that includes the implementation of 5G technology and the development of sustainable practices, such as the use of biomass energy from November.

Sustainability as a priority

With a focus on sustainability, Nestlé is investing in practices ranging from regenerative agriculture to packaging circularity, ensuring that production processes are increasingly efficient and have less environmental impact.

The Caçapava plant, for example, already uses the 5G technology, enabling an intelligent connection between machines, which reduces waste and increases efficiency.

Promising future and expansion into other areas

In addition to focusing on chocolates, Nestlé is also allocating $ 2,5 billion of $ 8,5 billion totals for the expansion of animal feed division, Purina, which has shown accelerated growth in Brazil

This investment reflects the company's commitment to innovation and sustainable growth in the Brazilian market.

Brazilian KitKat: taking over the world?

With a production that exceeds 3 million units per day, Nestlé Brazil is ready to displace England as the main producer of KitKat in the world.

The question remains: will this expansion make Brazilian KitKat conquer international markets and, who knows, dominate the world of chocolate?
