The National Social Security Institute (INSS) published a new rule of INSS that changes the reevaluation process for beneficiaries of the Continuous Cash Benefit (BPC). The change, formalized in a joint ordinance with the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance (MDS) and the Ministry of Social Security (MPS), waives the in-person medical examination for people with disabilities in permanent situations, benefiting over 150,000 citizens as early as 2025.

The periodic reevaluation, as stipulated in Article 21 of the Organic Law of Social Assistance (Law No. 8,742/1993), will still be mandatory every two years, but now with important exceptions. The goal, according to the government, is to streamline access to BPC, reduce unnecessary travel, and provide more security for families in vulnerable situations.

Who Will Be Benefited by the Waiver

The new rule of INSS eliminates the need for a medical examination for people with disabilities who have already undergone an official evaluation and received a diagnosis of permanent, irreversible, or irremediable impairment. As a result, these individuals will not need to be called for a new examination in 2025, maintaining the benefit more simply and securely.

Also exempt are:

Beneficiaries with disabilities who turn 65 years old, moving to receive BPC as an elderly person.
Individuals who resume benefits after engaging in professional or entrepreneurial activities — in these cases, the reevaluation is suspended for two years.

In other cases, convocations will continue gradually, with notifications sent through the Meu INSS app or via bank communication.

How the Process Will Work for Those Who Are Summoned

Those who receive notification for reevaluation must access the Meu INSS — via the app or website — to confirm the notice, check the reason for the summons, and schedule the medical examination or social evaluation within a period of up to 30 days.

The beneficiary may reschedule the appointment only once, within seven days after the original date. The results will be announced through official INSS channels, such as the app and phone number 135.

The biopsychosocial reevaluation serves to ensure that the benefit is granted to those who truly meet the legal requirements, preserving the fairness and effectiveness of the social protection public policy.

Acredito que vai mudar e facilitar a vida de muitas pessoas que precisam realmente do benefício e não term condições físicas e emocionais para fazer perícia presencial e tbm para pessoas idosas isso realmente é uma Glória

Acredito que vai facilitar, muitos idosos, com mobilidade reduzida. Poderiam deixar lincado com o banco para atualizar endereço número de telefone. Tive uma experiência, fui com minha mãe ao banco p atualizar o número da residência. O banco informou, que o cadastro p atualizar endereço era só no inss, aí p agendar na unidade do INSS, uma luta nunca tem vaga na unidade perto de casa, na agencias que tem vaga, são longes e tudo isso só mudar o número da residência.
