Olímpia Water Park Enters The Global Top 5 in 2024, According to International Ranking, Highlighting São Paulo’s Interior in Global Tourism by Surpassing Complexes Operated by Major Entertainment Groups and Consolidating Two Parks Among the Most Visited in the World.

A water park located in Olímpia, in the interior of São Paulo, finished 2024 as the fourth most visited in the world in its segment, according to the TEA Global Experience Index, an annual survey by the Themed Entertainment Association.

The Thermas dos Laranjais received approximately 1.85 million visitors throughout the year.

This volume placed the establishment ahead of other major international complexes in the global water park ranking.

The result reinforces the municipality’s presence in the international tourism scene.

Olímpia, which concentrates resorts and leisure attractions, now features two parks among the 20 most visited in the world, according to the same report.

Thermas dos Laranjais in the Global Water Park Ranking

The position achieved by Thermas dos Laranjais is significant when compared to data from other large water parks.

In the context of 2024, the TEA survey indicates that the Brazilian establishment surpassed units operated by traditional entertainment groups, such as Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon in the United States.

This park appears just behind in the annual visitor volume.

According to the report, the list includes water parks from different regions of the world.

The ranking is based on visitation estimates over the calendar year.

The presence of a Brazilian park among the top five places Olímpia among the main global destinations in the segment.

The ranking mostly includes complexes located in North America and Asia.

Visitor Decline in 2024 Does Not Alter Regional Leadership

Despite the high ranking in the global listing, Thermas dos Laranjais recorded a drop in visitor numbers compared to the previous year.

The data indicates a decline of 5.3% in 2024.

In 2023, the park had received approximately 1.9 million visitors.

The following year, the number dropped to about 1.8 million.

Even with the decline, the complex maintained absolute leadership in the Latin America and the Caribbean.

In the regional ranking published by the TEA, the park in Olímpia is in the first position.

The second place went to Aquaventure in the Bahamas.

The visitor difference ensured the São Paulo park a comfortable margin within the regional segment.

Hot Beach Grows and Enters The Global Top 20

In addition to Thermas dos Laranjais, another water park in the city stands out in the survey.

Hot Beach ranked 18th in the world in 2024.

The park received about 1.12 million visitors throughout the year, according to the TEA index.

The number represents a growth of approximately 5.3% compared to 2023.

That year, the park had recorded just over 1.06 million visitors.

In the specific ranking for Latin America and the Caribbean, Hot Beach appears in fourth place.

The performance reinforces the concentration of large water leisure operations in Olímpia.

Olímpia Concentrates Water Parks Among The Most Visited In The World

The simultaneous presence of two parks from Olímpia among the 20 most visited in the world attracts attention in the geographic context of the survey.

According to data released by the TEA, the city accounts for about 25% of the water parks listed among the most visited globally.

This data considers exclusively the specific ranking of the sector.

Tourism market experts often associate this performance with the combination of hotel infrastructure and proximity to major tourist source centers.

The continuous operation of the parks throughout the year is also cited as a relevant factor.

These elements frequently appear in analyses published by entities and media specializing in tourism.

High Season Expected to Maintain High Visitor Flow

On the local level, projections released by the Olímpia City Hall indicate that the municipality is expected to receive more than 1.1 million visitors during the high summer season.

The estimated period encompasses the months of December 2025 and January 2026.

The estimate was formulated based on data from the city’s Tourism Observatory.

The information was disclosed in institutional communications from the municipality.

The municipal administration associates the expectation with the performance of the water parks.

The hotel occupancy rate and the school holiday calendar are also considered.

These factors traditionally impact tourist flow in the region.

How The Themed Entertainment Association Ranking Is Made

The TEA Global Experience Index is published annually by the Themed Entertainment Association.

The report is produced in partnership with the consulting firms Entertainment + Culture Advisors and The Park Database.

The study gathers information provided by the parks themselves.

Available financial data and audience estimates are also utilized.

The goal is to rank the most visited attractions in the world.

According to the organization, the report considers industry trends.

Among them are regional demand variations and the impact of new investments.

Changes in visitor behavior are also factored into the analysis.

The survey aims to provide a comparative overview of theme and water parks’ performance on a global scale.
