IBGE Received Approval to Open 39 Thousand Positions in New Selection Process. Opportunities Include Enumerator in National Censuses.

The authorization for the hiring of more than 39 thousand temporary positions at IBGE has reignited the expectation of thousands of Brazilians seeking an opportunity in public service.

The hires will take place throughout the country, focusing on the execution of large-scale national censuses, which are considered strategic for the formulation of public policies.

Although the ordinance is already in effect, there are still important points open, such as salaries, application dates, and details of the assignments.

This information depends on the publication of the notice, which should occur in the coming months.

Authorization Reinforces IBGE’s Structure for Large Surveys

The decision to release a high volume of temporary positions is directly related to the nature of IBGE’s activities.

The institute is responsible for large-scale research, which requires complex logistics and direct interaction with the population.

For this reason, the hires occur for a determined period, only during the time necessary for data collection and consolidation.

These surveys require teams distributed in urban and rural areas, including in hard-to-reach regions.

In Which National Censuses Will the Hired Work

According to the ordinance, the selected professionals will work in two important national censuses.

The first is the Agricultural, Forestry, and Aquaculture Census, responsible for mapping rural production, forestry activities, and aquaculture across Brazilian territory.

This data is essential for agricultural planning, environmental policies, and regional development.

The second survey is the Population Census of People Living on the Streets, which requires specific methodology and a differentiated approach.

This census seeks to identify and characterize a historically underreported social group, providing essential information for social assistance, health, and housing policies.

Enumerator Position Concentrates the Majority of Temporary Positions

The largest share of opportunities will be allocated to the enumerator role, a central function in executing the censuses.

In total, 27,330 positions are planned just for this activity, which involves direct information collection from the population through interviews and standardized questionnaires.

The details of the responsibilities for each role, however, will only be known with the publication of the selection process notice.

Selection Process Will Be Simplified and for a Fixed Term

To fill the positions, IBGE will conduct a simplified selection process, a model already used by the institute in previous hires.

This format usually involves objective tests or analysis of qualifications, with less complex stages than regular competitions, precisely because it concerns temporary links.

Thus, the contracts will have a defined term, linked to the duration of the censuses.

Salaries and Budget Still Depend on Official Definition

The remuneration amounts have not yet been disclosed.

The release is conditional upon proving budgetary and financial adequacy, according to the Annual Budget Law and the Law of Budgetary Guidelines.

Traditionally, earnings vary according to the position and productivity, especially in the case of the enumerator, who in previous selections received payment by production.

When Will IBGE’s Notice Be Released

The legal deadline for the publication of the notice is up to six months after the ordinance, which takes the limit to the month of May.

Until that happens, there is no defined schedule for applications, tests, or publication of results from the selection process.

In the meantime, interested candidates should monitor official IBGE channels to avoid missing updates.

Recent History of IBGE Selections

The institute has frequently resorted to temporary positions to handle its research.

In addition, IBGE participated in the Unified National Public Contest (CPNU), with 895 permanent positions.

Currently, another selection process is underway, offering 9,580 positions for the roles of Research and Mapping Agents and Collection and Quality Supervisors, reinforcing the ongoing importance of these hires for the execution of the agency’s activities.
