The Advance of the Grain Harvest in Paraná Reveals Historical Records, Greater Agricultural Supply, and Direct Effects on State VBP, Strengthening Different Productive Chains in 2024/25
The grain harvest in Paraná has reached a historic milestone in the 2024/25 cycle and has solidified itself as the largest ever recorded in the state, with a total volume of 46.8 million tons, according to a report published.
The result, released by the Department of Rural Economy (Deral) of the Secretary of Agriculture and Supply, compiles data from various crops that benefited from a more stable climate period and a significant increase in the cultivated area.
The estimated Gross Value of Production (VBP) reaches R$ 68 billion, reinforcing the importance of this agricultural season for the rural sector in Paraná and for the entire national supply chain.

The water that almost everyone throws away after cooking potatoes carries nutrients released during the preparation and can be reused to help in the development of plants when used correctly at the base of gardens and pots, at no additional cost and without changing the routine.

The sea water temperature rose from 28 to 34 degrees in Santa Catarina and killed up to 90% of the oysters: producers who planted over 1 million seeds lost practically everything and say that if it happens again, production is doomed to end.

An Indian tree that grows in the Brazilian Northeast produces an oil capable of acting against more than 200 species of pests and interrupting the insect cycle, gaining ground as a natural alternative in soybean, cotton, and vegetable crops.

The rise in oil prices in the Middle East is already affecting Brazilian sugar: mills in the Central-South are seeing their margins shrink just as ethanol gains strength.
The performance of corn was one of the central pillars of the record volume. The crop recorded 21 million tons, the highest level in the historical series, directly influencing the behavior of chains that depend on the cereal.
Soybeans also played a decisive role, with 97% of the projected area already planted, totaling 5.58 million hectares in conditions considered very favorable.
Beans and barley complete the group of crops that increased productivity and helped elevate the total harvested in the state.
Record Corn Production in Paraná
The grain harvest in Paraná also highlights the advancement of corn and changes in its use within the productive chains.
Corn crops began the 2025/26 cycle with 339.8 thousand hectares already planted and 93% classified as of good quality.
The expansion of 21% in the cultivated area demonstrates an atypical movement for the period, emphasizing the impact of the cereal on the production costs of pigs and poultry.
In October, pig farming recorded one of the lowest costs of the year, R$ 5.77 per live kilo, a result directly related to the wide availability of corn and soybean meal.
Grain Harvest in Paraná and Wheat Expansion in Winter
Wheat had a significant share in the total result of the season, reaching 816.6 thousand hectares of planted area and 99% of the harvest completed.
The crop reinforced its importance in the winter cycle, which also concluded with favorable numbers for oats.
This grain reached 470 thousand tons, the largest volume of the last decade, representing a 33% increase compared to the previous period.
Both white oats, aimed at industrial use, and black oats, intended for pastures and soil cover, recorded significant advances and expanded the agricultural diversification of the state for the future.
Growth of Oat Culture
The situational bulletin released by Deral details that the growth of oats contributed to the grain harvest in Paraná reaching historic levels.
More stable climatic conditions favor both the cereal and other crops, such as soybeans, which showed 92% of the fields in what is considered good condition.
In the livestock sector, areas such as egg production benefited from the drop in input prices, increasing the competitiveness of the farms.
The successful grain harvest in Paraná reinforces the positive impacts that this supply generates in segments related to exports.
The state remains the national leader in external chicken trade, accounting for 40.9% of the Brazilian volume shipped and 39.2% of foreign currency revenue.
The removal of an additional tariff by the United States is also likely to enhance the competitiveness of Paraná beef.
The grain harvest in Paraná also accompanies relevant data on the performance of other chains. Turkey meat exports showed strong appreciation, with Paraná occupying the national third position, recording US$ 38.712 million and 12,269 tons sent to the international market.
In the fruit sector, guava kept the state among the largest producers in the country, with 54 thousand tons and a VBP of R$ 268.5 million, following a 147.5% increase in area and 205.5% in harvest over the past ten years.
With this scenario, the grain harvest in Paraná concludes the 2024/25 cycle solidified as the largest in its history.
