With 73.5 Million Tons, Paraná Ports Grow 10% and Become the Engine of Export, Import, and the Brazilian Economy.

The Paraná ports finished 2025 with the movement of 73.5 million tons, including exports and imports, a result that represents a growth of 10.1% compared to 2024.

The increase, recorded throughout the year at terminals such as Paranaguá and Antonina, solidified the complex as the one that grew the most proportionally among the main ports in Brazil.

The performance reflects operational changes, investments in infrastructure, and the strength of Paraná’s economy in foreign trade.

According to data from Comex Stat, published by the port authority, the leap occurred in a context of strong demand from agribusiness and logistical reorganization.

Thus, the state expanded its strategic relevance both for exporting commodities and ensuring the entry of essential inputs for national production.

Paraná Ports Lead Growth in the National Scenario

The performance of 2025 placed the Paraná ports at the top of the country’s percentage growth ranking. In 2024, the movement was 66.7 million tons.

Now, the new level confirms the port complex’s ability to adapt to a more competitive economic environment.

Moreover, the growth occurred evenly across different types of cargo, reinforcing the diversification of the state’s logistical agenda.

This strengthens the regional economy and enhances the security of export and import chains.

Agribusiness Drives Export and Strengthens the Economy of Paraná

Among the products shipped abroad, corn stood out as the main growth driver.

Exports jumped from 1.07 million tons in 2024 to 5.09 million tons in 2025, a significant increase of 375%. The result reflects both the robust harvest and greater logistical efficiency.

Soybean remained central to exports, with 14.6 million tons, an 11% growth compared to the previous year.

Meanwhile, soybean meal reached 6.5 million tons, a 5% increase, confirming the importance of Paraná in processing and distributing agricultural derivatives.

Vegetable Oils, Sugar, and Cellulose Gain Space in Paraná Ports

Another highlight was the 32% increase in the movement of vegetable oils, keeping the Port of Paranaguá as the main exit point for this product in the country.

This performance reinforces the competitiveness of the terminal in higher value-added cargoes.

Additionally, cellulose recorded a growth of 16%, while bagged sugar advanced by 15%.

These numbers indicate a more diversified export agenda, less dependent on a single product, contributing to greater economic stability.

Wood and External Market Face Uncertainties

The export of wood totaled 1.6 million tons in 2025, a variation of 0.24% compared to the previous year.

The United States remained one of the main destinations for the product. Throughout the year, the sector faced instability due to tariff uncertainties in the U.S. market.

Despite this, confirmation that wood would be excluded from the tariffs announced by the U.S. government allowed for the maintenance of a regular shipping flow.

Thus, the Paraná ports managed to preserve their participation in this strategic segment.

Fertilizer Imports Hit Historic Record

In the opposite direction of foreign trade, imports also played a relevant role. Fertilizers led the volume unloaded, with 11.61 million tons in 2025, a 4% growth and a new historic record.

Paranaguá and Antonina accounted for over 25% of national consumption of the input, highlighting the importance of Paraná for the security of Brazilian agribusiness.

The group of grains, which includes wheat, malt, and barley, also reached a record volume, with 1.10 million tons.

Containerized Cargoes and Animal Protein Increase Participation

Containerized cargoes reached 1.66 million TEUs in 2025, a 7% increase compared to the previous year.

With this, the Paraná complex concentrated 34% of Brazil’s exports of frozen animal protein.

Chicken meat maintained stable volume, with 2.8 million tons, even after temporary disruptions caused by sanitary restrictions.

Beef, on the other hand, showed significant growth of 46.5%, totaling 1.2 million tons exported.

Investments and Infrastructure Explain the Progress of Paraná Ports

According to the CEO Luiz Fernando Garcia, the result goes beyond a new record. “It is not simply a new record. It is a achievement that reflects throughout the entire economic chain of our state,” he said.

Among the main interventions are the completion of the dredging of Pedra da Palangana and the dredging that raised the operational draft to 13.3 meters. As a result, ships are now able to load more cargo per stop, increasing export efficiency.

In December, the Port of Paranaguá recorded the highest shipment of solid vegetable bulk in a single vessel: 77 thousand tons of corn.

The expectation is that, with the granting of the access channel, the depth will reach 15.5 meters, allowing up to 14 thousand tons additional per vessel.

New Projects Strengthen the Role of Ports in the Economy

The Moegão rail complex has already surpassed 80% completion and is expected to be finished by February.

The investment of R$ 650 million will expand the annual reception capacity to up to 24 million tons of grains and meals.

In addition, projects like the “T” Pier and the “F” Pier amount to billions in private investments.

Since 2019, nine auctions have secured R$ 5.1 billion to modernize the ports of Paraná, consolidating the state as one of the principal logistical hubs of the Brazilian economy.
