Operating in More Than 10 Countries, Ascenza Invests Millions in Brazil. For the Company, the Brazilian Agribusiness Is the Largest Market in the World
Operating in the global market since 1965, the Portuguese multinational Ascenza, part of the Rovensa Group, has ambitious plans in Brazil. Currently generating around R$ 80 million, it projects that in four years, by 2025, it will more than double these figures, reaching approximately R$ 218 million. This scenario is expected to be supported by a highly professional, agile team with technical expertise connected to the realities of Brazilian producers. Supporting the expansion of its portfolio here with 19 new formulations, a leap of 26% in sales value.

To achieve this, the strategies are already well defined, as explained by the country manager in Brazil, Renato Franchiscelli. “We want to capitalize on synergies with other brands of the Rovensa Group, such as Oro Agri, for example. Additionally, we want to be the first players with certain active substances, being more at the forefront. It is also our objective to expand in the market with the product Cuprital, specifically in soybean,” he explains. The executive points out that the intention is to be closer to the producer and understand their real needs. “In this way, we can be ahead in the search for the best solutions,” he adds.
For the company, the Brazilian agribusiness is currently the largest market in the world, and the expectation is that it will remain so for many years, due to the adoption of modern technologies that allow for productivity increases catering to a growing international consumer market. “Ascenza takes on the challenge of bringing new sustainable solutions, economically viable for the phytosanitary management of crops,” claims Francischelli.

Ascenza Seeks to Establish in Brazil the Legacy It Already Has Abroad
Ascenza aims to establish in Brazil the legacy it already possesses abroad. Currently, almost 630 employees work at the company’s headquarters and branches. There are 810 registered products focusing on the main problems faced by producers worldwide, in addition to over 180 active formulations. The operations are present in 10 markets, eight of which are in Europe (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria), alongside Brazil and Mexico.
The structures are also robust, with seven laboratories at the manufacturing unit in Setúbal, Portugal, allowing for the in-house development of over 80% of the work for registering new products. All of this generates approximately € 168 million in revenue for the company, thus solidifying its position as a leader in the Iberian post-patent segment, with over 9.6% of market share as of 2020. “We are focused on growing 1% in market share over the next five years in Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy, bringing us closer to 5%. Globally, we aim to increase sales by 35% over the next four years, exceeding € 250 million,” confides Rui Correia, Ascenza’s central marketing director.
