Rivian R1X pickup truck has some data revealed! Ford's Raptor rival can deliver a range of 800 km and 1.000 horsepower.

Rivian brought to automotive market its R3 and R3X models, which emerged in the wake of the R2, which ended up being overshadowed by its smaller brothers. However, the manufacturer from Normal, Illinois, does not intend to stop there and is preparing a Rivian R1X. Derived from the R1T, Rivian's new pickup truck has a more radical design and a proposal similar to that of the Ford Raptor F-150, for example.

Considered a top-of-the-line model by Rivian, this pickup, which competes with the Ford Raptor, was seen in industrial design at the USPTO, the US industrial protection service. In the images, released by the Rivian Owners forum, the Rivian R1X pickup truck appears with a more expressive front, with more robust lines, with emphasis on the fenders and the very pronounced front bumper with two overbumpers.

In addition to huge wheels with large studs on the tires, the Rivian R1X will have a different bucket, with aesthetic elements on the sides and a compartment with a lid that can function as a table.

New Rivian R1X Pickup Can Deliver 1.000 Horsepower

The traditional transversal compartment between bucket and cabin has its lid transformed into a chair. Other images describe what the open compartments look like, as well as other details not technically described.

The expectation is that the Rivian R1X will have at least 1.000 horsepower and thus be able to compete with GMC Hummer and Ford Raptor. With all this cavalry, your lithium batteries would need to be between 150 kWh and 200 kWh. This could lead to a range of at least 800 km, which would help a lot when off-road and with expanded capabilities, such as the function of turning on its own axis.

New Ford Raptor rival could reach the automotive market equipped with technology cutting-edge and new engine

The Rivian R1X pickup truck will certainly have more added capabilities, especially for towing, as well as high recharging capacity, bidirectional flow for blackouts, among others. Rivian could help Ford's rival further stand out from the rest of the lineup with a unique powertrain configuration and special software features.

Like many trademark registrations, there is a chance the brand will never use this name, and this measure only serves to protect its intellectual property. However, expanding the R1 lineup to include a dedicated performance vehicle seems natural for the company. Currently, it only sells the R1T and R1S pickup truck, and the new R2 will only go on sale for the next two years.

It's unknown when the brand plans to launch the R3 and R3X, but a Ford Raptor rival could improve the lineup until the models arrive. The company has ambitious growth plans in the coming years, and expanding its lineup is essential to that, especially the smaller, more affordable R2.

Rivian develops new fuel cell

Rivian surprised, not only revealing the long-awaited R2 electric SUV at a starting price of just $45, but also showing off a new battery cell. The cell is called 4695 due to its diameter of 46 mm and height of 95 mm. sIts specifications have not yet been detailed, however it is considerably larger than Tesla's 4680 cells, which could mean a lot.

As battery cells get bigger, their voltage doesn't change unless the chemistry changes, and it's more likely that Rivian is using the conventional lithium ion chemistry. Which expands the cell's amp-hour rating, meaning the 4695 contains more power than the 4680.
